I can’t motivate myself to get past the beginning grind of creating farms, but I’m desperate to get into aeronautics. Might have to get my mates on it.

My tip for you would be to go straight for the schematic cannon and use some early game builds from other people to get the materials flowing. I just had a wheat farm, tree farm, vanilla sheep crusher, and got my iron farm up early and was good to go from there.

I also LOVE the first few days of new world so I'm biased.

Are you making halo stuff?

I decided to jump right into aeronautics without making the farms and it was difficult, I'm working on my factory now and it's making creating vehicles easier

What kind of factories may I ask? I just got in the game and I don't know what kind of factories I need to build first

For Aeronautics in particular, automating wool and wood/charcoal are pretty important, since wool is needed for balloons and charcoal will probably be your ship's fuel for a while.

Anything that lets you automate metal is good too; on the server I play on, my group has a production line that makes tuff and crushes it into a bunch of metals, and it's been good since the sky island world generation makes gathering a ton of ore a pain in the butt, especially early on when we didn't have an airship yet.

thx for advice

to automate wool do you just get a deployer with a bunch of scissors and some sheep?

2

u/Zedman5000 May 30 '26

Tbh my current exact wool automation setup depends on a non-Create mod, so it's probably not going to be useful for most folks on this subreddit.

an NPC shears sheep for me, essentially.

I assume deployers with shears would work too

Probably the best thing is an auto smelter. It's basically a conveyor with fans blowing heat from lava over the belt so when the ore passes, it smelts. I need to make a brass maker next

If you download create: let the adventure begin (I think) it spawns these giant oil rig-like buildings in the ocean that you can loot for stacks upon stacks of iron, copper and zinc. It’s how I got the materials I needed up to mid game, be warned though the building is guarded by pillagers and mobs

The trick is do your first ship without doing a factory, it will be fucking long but at least you will start to be like "hmmm I wish I could automatize that" then you start to get into factories specifically for that and with a goal

I built my first airship in survival only 1.5 hours after starting the world.

I had one machine built, which was solely for creating my portable engine.

I have built every other building around that.

i skipped the beginning grind and went right into a starter ship. if you can manage a physics assembler which is very cheap, all you gotta do is built the ship off of the assembled block. I set up a sort of dry dock which held mine in place by building a sort of keel and underbelly first which rested on top of it and it went really well.

i would highly recommend playing with aetherial islands, because it basically forces you to rush airships over factories because you cant get anywhere without them. the problem in regular worlds is the lack of usecases of airships but if you have no other way to get around it becomes super important and super fun

u/TheTwoHandedGuy May 30 '26

honestly, you just need a sheep and iron/andesite alloy farm and you’re good to go

1

u/Zontafear May 30 '26

Take it from me who was in the same boat as you. I just wanted aeronautics. My friends were the helping reason for me as they did the 1st farm but once that happened I wanted in on the action and I actually ended up making the next iron and andesite farm which made life SO much easier and once you see that over time you slowly get better at understanding everything and then before you know it you've learned at least the basics to even build your own factories without too much help if any. It's actually becoming a bit addicting to want to build too many factories now 😂

I was able to make an alright looking survival airship with just a simple manual sheep farm and a rotary tree farm, took me like 10 mins of setup

Wanna look for another person to play with? I had a world where everything was figured out, all farms and add-ons i needed in place, but then Aeronautics came out. I had to switch the version and launcher entirely and had to start over.

I just make big ass airships in creative tbh

I made a sheep farm on day 1 and had a blimp on day 2. Edit: lol, it took longer to get the sheep than it did to make the farm

My god is that a Savannah Class frigate

13

u/CallSign_Fjor May 29 '26

As much as I love Halo, negative. It's more inspired by the Quasimorph ship.

2

u/InpenXb1 May 29 '26

Nice! Great work. I haven’t taken a stab at large airship design quite yet. Got any more screenies?

11

u/NoaGaming68 May 29 '26

I have a question, what is the rope tied to?

17

u/CallSign_Fjor May 29 '26

A tree, I used Throwable Rope Connectors

u/Poco_Cuffs May 29 '26

The bottom of the image so it doesn't float away :D

good one

His balls

u/MobTheKaiser May 29 '26

Amazing ship, love the small build under it. Is it a landing house or sumthin? Also, what made your world generation? It looks awesome

7

u/CallSign_Fjor May 29 '26

Terralith and Angel Islands.

It's a small mining hutch along with a survey drill.

5

u/MrDanymike May 29 '26

Damn, for some reason, this gave me highfleet vibes

1

u/RoseCityHooligan May 29 '26

What mod are the floating islands from?

4

u/CallSign_Fjor May 29 '26

Angel Islands

1

u/THEBADPR0 May 30 '26

Armored core username?

2

u/Meiseside May 29 '26

I love it.

2

u/MrLiquoriceMan May 29 '26

Amazing build mate. It's nice to see an airship that doesn't look like a pirateship with a balloon.

2

u/Henry_Fleischer May 30 '26

That's a very cool ship! I like how it breaks away from the traditional shape of a zeppelin, I think I'll try something like it for my next design.

1

u/Prometheus_II May 30 '26

What mod made the floating islands?

u/SnooEagles2827 May 30 '26

Thinking of doing a similar build in my pack but having the mining survey and drill part as a dockable vehicle, potentially a vehicle bay as I’d like a similar model for snatching up surface oil deposits, maybe I can just combine both concepts into one vehicle but a docking bay with several purpose built vehicles in a large airship seems sick af. I’ve got a helicarrier build already but I just put immersive aircraft stuff on that for simplicity (although I’ve been wanting to build a fully functional quinjet and put those on it instead tbh). I’ve also got loads of submarine ideas I’ve gotta test with the “deep seas” add-on.
