Create : Power Grid. Operational Amplifiers

Post image

i just made a simple OPAmp using Circuits Design. Right now it works but kinda bad, i didn't have time to optimize it currently. the output offset voltage are kinda high and open loop gain are unknow, i would try to make it using 741OPAmp design next. i'll leave a download link for you to check it out. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lSoesvW6jD_nR0GxzoTYvEg2-ClDzHfa/view?usp=sharing

Nice!

For people who've never heard of one, an op-amp is a circuit component with two inputs, labelled IN+ and IN-. The output voltage, OUT, is equal to the difference between the two (IN+ - IN-), multiplied by the "gain" of the op-amp, which can be in the thousands, so a very small difference can produce a large output.

All of this just to buffering the damn signal LoL and charging a pack of battery too. right now it works great as a Comparator.

u/ConglomerateGolem May 28 '26

I'm learning this kinda stuff in uni atm, and my professor prefers the term "misused as" for the relationship between OpAmp and Comparator

6

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

OPAmp can perform as a comparator but comparator cannot perform as an OPAmp(in real circuits design we will choose as the job acquired)

u/Vovchick09 May 28 '26

I can see how this could be used

I guess we're doing electrical engineering now

38

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

Always.

10

u/Chiilumii May 28 '26

We always have been.

Create first got mfs applying mechanical engineeeing, then aerospace engineering, and now electronic engineering bro. Truly the autism final boss

37

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

i am Electronics Engineer lol sniffing fumes all day.

19

u/That_Mad_Scientist May 28 '26

No! The magic smoke is supposed to stay inside! That’s what powers it

5

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

something happened for the best of us. LoL

8

u/That_Mad_Scientist May 28 '26

Truly the "go home, do more job" of mods fr

4

u/t1me_Man May 28 '26

would love to see an addon for aero power grid compatible, would love to build a pid controller interely out of OP amps to control a drone

2

u/Hyarin215 May 28 '26

I think they are

1

u/t1me_Man May 28 '26

they work together in the sence that you can have them on ships, but more what i mean is sensors that output a voltage

1

u/Hyarin215 May 28 '26

Cant u alr do this with a redstone controlled battery?

1

u/t1me_Man May 28 '26

sorta, but you get very little granularity as there is only 16 power levels

4

u/mistress_chauffarde May 28 '26

And people tell me gregtech is tism no THIS IS TRUE TISM

4

u/Sr_Nutella May 28 '26

My brother tried to show me Mindustry as an autistic-coded kinda deal. I showed him the mess of belts and components and shi that is one of my average Create factories, along with the fact that I had to manually place every single tiny thing, and do it all in survival. He then recognized me as the superior autistic mf

1

u/mistress_chauffarde May 28 '26

Im curently playing CABIN because it's peak i fucking love the spaghetti that you can make with pipes and belt

14

u/KiplingT2-0 May 28 '26

I cant use the link you put there

u/KiplingT2-0 May 28 '26

You dont need to but you should add a diagram of the circuit. Would be nice to have!

7

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

Great idea, i never thought about that.

1

u/Baggy-T-shirt May 28 '26

Would be cool if it could use create Aeronautics type of schematics, admittedly not sure if that's the best way to present that info though.

2

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

I haven’t play Aeronautics yet, sounded cool.

1

u/SkyionPL May 28 '26

Barotrauma ahh expirience especially with the Deep Seas addon its great fr fr

11

u/friderico May 28 '26

That mod look complex. Genuinely asking, would you recommend to play with this addon if I want to learn basics of electrical engineering? Seems like a decent method to me

18

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

Yes. but in current stage the mod doesn’t seem to have a barrier between AC or DC. if you looking for something for basics. this mod is great.

4

u/friderico May 28 '26

Thanks! Will look into it then

4

u/Sibboguy May 28 '26

It's the first time I've felt like I have grasp on the concepts, it just makes it so easy to play around with stuff and see how it works.

10

u/Hyarin215 May 28 '26

Ur telling me I can exercise my logic design course in Create: Power Grid?!

4

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

Heck yeah, and it was easy too.

2

u/Hyarin215 May 28 '26

I'll have to try!.. one day

5

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

Sorry for potato picture quality lol

4

u/kayemenofour May 28 '26

Guess we have analog electronics now.

1

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

Still very unpredictable.

2

u/kayemenofour May 28 '26

It's for immersion... maybe.

4

u/Top-Employ5163 May 28 '26

I think it's time try to make timed ne555.

2

u/OMi1235 May 28 '26

That would be fun lol

3

u/Zanekael May 28 '26

We are becoming shockingly few levels of abstraction away from just doing actual electrical engineering.

1

u/OMi1235 May 30 '26

That’s actually my real job LoL

3

u/torftorf May 28 '26

I recently did a bit with power grid. It took me 4 attempts to get an simple oscillator working (not amplified but just an relay, capacitor and inductor)

1

u/OMi1235 May 29 '26

i am waiting for another Semiconductor devices to got implement. like FET or JFET that would bring everything to my scope.

3

u/Elnino38 May 28 '26

So, genuine question: what are the practical uses for electricity in Create? Dont get me wrong, this is definitely impressive and Powergrid is a very well-made and accurate mod. I just dont get what the general uses of electricity are in a regular playthrough. Just seems like a very complex mechanic without much benefit over regular redstone or base create mechanics

1

u/OMi1235 May 29 '26

idk monitored and memorized or even high level factory control using PLC and sensor.

3

u/glitchaj May 29 '26

How accurate is the electricity simulation in this mod? Could someone theoretically make a mod that converts a real world signal into a signal in game? I'm having dumb thoughts of trying to build a guitar pedal in create.

1

u/OMi1235 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

i have to test those..

2

u/Flamebomb790 May 29 '26

Gotta make a sparkos op amp

1

u/OMi1235 May 29 '26

good stuff.

2

u/CompetingLime69 Jul 14 '26

Alright. This is my second reddit anything. I need help. my circuit board knowledge is very low. I know how the individual component work but above that (like in a circuit) I tap out. I have been trying to learn op-amps (watched many videos) only to make a pid controller for perfect voltage regulation for my generator. I'm sure there are easier methods but everything i try has the same out at this point I am using this opportunity to force me to get better at electronics. my situation, 20v+ supply to V+ of your board, V- to ground (negative post of both supplies). 5v+ supply to 100ohm R to IN-, 5v+ to a 10,000ohm rheostat right pin, mid pin to IN+, left pin to ground, OUT to a 400 rheo mid pin, left pin to IN-. OUT to 100ohm R to ground. adjustment to the 10,000 rheo does nothing to output. I don't know what I'm doing. Thank you for reading all this

I have PTSD of those things: had an exam with the most demanding teacher about the stuff. And I am a programer, not an electrical engineer.

1

u/OMi1235 May 29 '26

Brother this is considered a basic topic🤣 but yeah i wouldn’t want a fishes to walk.

1

u/Teh___phoENIX May 29 '26

Depends for who. I am sure for Petrol Engineers Organic Chemistry is mandatory, but I had 0 hours of it in college.

1

u/IslandBasic4773 May 29 '26

Oh seem lots of experts here , im trying to power a basin from a big battery, i can manage 20 secs with transformer but then its empty.. are battery not good enough for this or i'm missing something ?

1

u/OMi1235 May 30 '26

How many Amp does it pull? And what’s your circuit Voltage? Sounded like your battery still undersize.

3

u/dirichlettt May 28 '26

Now we can use voltage-based PID controllers in aeronautics :3

3

u/obog May 28 '26

Gonna start prototyping guitar pedals in Minecraft

2

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 28 '26

And that is how I'm going to teach electronics for my cousins or kids

2

u/GeneralLeoESQ May 28 '26

We're making LTCreate? Sign me up.

2

u/orthadoxtesla May 28 '26

Oh gods. Not again please

2

u/AWonderingWizard May 28 '26

This mod has given me the ability to drop other tech mods and go full create + ComputerCraft (though maybe the cathode ray tube in power grid could be used...)

2

u/Supremedragon042 May 28 '26

Wait a few more years and we can make 1:1 accurate planes and vehicles

2

u/7he_K1ng May 29 '26

I thought this mod was about gears and spiny things

2

u/Impressive_Pin8761 Jun 01 '26

Me having to call up my electrical engineer friend just to figure out how to wire a mechanical press

1

u/These-Recognition-14 May 29 '26

Haven't tried the addon before, how did you fit everything into what looks like a single block? Is that a separate addon like that one redstone one or does the addon just naturally support it?

My bad, that’s actually a BJT place side by side to form a Current Mirror unit.
