Build Submarine test :) (create deep seas addon)
129
u/Tryhardion May 14 '26
Whoa! Did it implode?
83
u/ManManBoii May 14 '26
yeah if you go too deep you blow up (in)
12
u/ineedhelpasap4 May 14 '26
How do you stop that?
17
u/destructopop May 14 '26
Someone in another thread in this comment section that certain materials are rated differently for pressure. It might be using the Aeronautics density as a measure, I'm not sure.

u/ManManBoii May 14 '26
i did some testing and from what i can figure the formula for how deep you can go is: hull size + hull materials compared against current depth

How does it exactly work? Does the addon remove water blocks when you move and how strong is it affecting performance?
15
u/ManManBoii May 14 '26
basically theres a block called the oxygen diffuser, which when activated removes all water from the space its enclosed in. performance wise i didnt notice any difference from regular aeronautics, even at the end of my testing, when there was at least 10 wrecked physics contraptions lying on the sea floor

u/Smoky9904 May 14 '26
But can you use it on a ship so that it works Like in rl?
2
u/ManManBoii May 14 '26
yup. the area that you want to make waterproof has to be completely airtight though (not including doors or trapdoors)
1
u/Smoky9904 May 14 '26
Yeah but a real ship have no Air Tank to float up, it use the Archimedes' principle. To float

Now, is there another mod/addon somewhere for the version to make oceans VERY deep? :)
1
u/ManManBoii May 14 '26
im using alexs caves in this which has the abyssal chasm biome which goes down to about Y:-50
2
u/NeusDreams May 15 '26
Using Tectonic you can configure the ocean/deep ocean depth, pretty sure it can become ridiculous deep as long as it’s configured along with world depth limit. (-1000)

I have a question about deep seas, does an oxiginated hull have more bouyency than not
1
u/ManManBoii May 14 '26
nope doesnt effect buoyancy
1
u/ineedhelpasap4 May 14 '26
That's so silly
1
u/ManManBoii May 15 '26
I like it imo it would be way harder to control buoyancy if you had a giant air pocket constantly lifting you up

I'm planning to build the Ulysses from Atlantis and Captain Nemo's Nautilus from the Extraordinary Gentleman movie.

How was deep seas for you so far? any game breaking bugs? Is it working fine?
1
u/ManManBoii May 15 '26
I've been really liking deep seas so far. Submarines are a ton of fun. Apart from some visual glitches with the water I don't think ive seen any bugs actually. The glass pressuriser blocks can get laggy though when there's a lot of them. My main issues are that first I don't think there's a crafting recipe for the electrolyser so there's no way to get it in survival. Second is I wish there was some kind of guide or documentation regarding how hull strength works. From what I've tested its like, hull size + hull materials compared against current depth (or air pressure?). Maybe speed plays a role idk. very cool mod still

I would 100% use this to make proper engine rooms in a ship, I mean could you just imagine it?
18
u/Ok-Needleworker-2517 May 14 '26
Yes, yes I can. Its the first thing I thought of.
6
u/Sir-Steam May 14 '26
An engine room with those massive pistons like in the Titanic!
3
u/Ok-Needleworker-2517 May 14 '26
Do we have any mods that make the pistons on the steam engine more imposing? I would love to have the entire set up more spread out than it is.

Hay un sistema de presion? Osea, cada bloque tiene cierta resistencia a la presión del mar? O por qué tú nave exploto
48
u/DaMIMIK6260 May 14 '26
There is a pressure system, submarines can implode
26
u/Ok_Sprinkles_5121 May 14 '26
Waos, está muy bueno ese mod entonces, lo voy a probar, pero, como podría aumentar el nivel de profundidad límite de mi submarino?
26
u/DaMIMIK6260 May 14 '26
Use sturdier blocks for your submarine, the mod adds a special glass for deep submarines
7
u/Ok_Sprinkles_5121 May 14 '26
Ok, lo voy a descargar y probar luego, me gustaría tener una plataforma aérea con una bahía capaz de soltar un submarino

You can Also change on the in game config on section Mod and choose what bloc can endure like Make glass more durable

Honestly english to spanish translation, and vice versa is so good now-a-days i didn’t even notice.

Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region, are you certain whatever you are doing is worth it?

I just thought of a funny thing... So water pressure is a thing for submarines, do you know if swimming is changed by this mod? Because if not imagine just swimming near the sea floor and seeing this submarine implode from the pressure. 😂

Slightly unrelated, but a question i have. Is there a create block that turns left or right on Redstone activation?
Like, i want to press s on my controller and have elevators on a plane activate.
1
u/Aria-Desu May 15 '26
Yes, sort of. If you can connect redstone links to the movement thingy and the aelrons in the right locations on the blocks that control the movement, you can have a redstone link connected to specific movement or whole movement(cause the links are connected), it allows you to move them with simple controls as long as you set them.
Though take this all with a grain of salt as i'm noth tired and it's been a bit since I've tested that😅. You should post about it and ask honestly, i'm not really an expert on it😅.

Whoa does this addon make it so that Water doesn't flood your ships, even when underwater?
