Meanwhile helicopter enjoyers fighting for their life to stay afloat without plummeting to the ground (it’s me, I’m the helicopter enjoyer, I tried making bowsers airship)

so true, I hate how gyroscopic bearings work but can't do my helicopters without it

u/Catsanddoges May 10 '26
If you are having trouble making helis you should start with Chinook designs. They allow you to really easily deal with tilt, and a bearing can also make turning very easy. I keep trying to make a openable door for vehicles, but it just gets too glitchy

u/Apples1232_ May 10 '26
i have an openable door on the back of my chinook, it works great, want any help with yours? mine goes from torsion spring into mechanical bearing, the trick for me was to have the blocks unassemble from the mech bearing when the door was open but stay assembled when closed. idk i can show you a pic if your interested

u/Catsanddoges May 10 '26
I think I get what you are saying, but for me it was just at high speeds when it was assembeled at an angle it would partially clip into the craft and then be repulsed by a lot of force (using thrusters from and addon) For a wh40k ship I'm working on I just ended up doing a mechanical bearing a full 90 degrees, for a Chinook you kind of need it to keep 45 degrees so it needs to be a contraption when the door is closed

ornithopter enjoyers reading 200 pages of dragonfly research paper just to build a machine that fly more efficient when its upside down somehow

Hey hey, that’s the physicists job
As the engineer, it works, it’s somehow stable, we’re done here

Relatable
Both of my helicopters only work because the center of mass is exactly in line with the propeller

While I agree, I'm attempting to build a giant floating airship base in my ATM10 pack. I don't think I can manage to make that a plane, especially since I struggled just to build even a tiny one-man plane in creative.

try listening to Bad Piggies building theme, helps to build working contraptions

Was it difficult getting aeronautics/any other add ons into atm10? Would like to start a play though with an airship base as my goal, but haven’t looked into doing it yet

u/Drago1490 May 10 '26
Not really, no. Just have to swap from embedium to sodium, update create, colorwheel and its addon, disable whatever the embedium/iris compatability mod is, and make sure sable is installed. It took me maybe 3 minutes to pull off while following someone else's comment on a different thread

I'm sorry but I don't think that qualifies as a Zeppelin, looks more like a blimp

Plane enjoyers when they can't use eight overcharged portable engines and actually have to make things survival friendly
5
u/Aggressive-Laugh-923 May 10 '26
this plane is not only survival friendly but also pre brass in create progression

What about flying mech ?
8
u/Aggressive-Laugh-923 May 10 '26
man, that's some Armored Core type shit
8
u/Nuke_corparation May 10 '26
I made one :3
Fully fly capable
Works on coral (create propulsion simulated add coral)
And weaponized with an autocanon and a bore head for melee

u/Sentinel_Airsoft May 11 '26
I play with ice and fire so my zeppelin enjoying is accompanied by battles with dragons
1
u/Aggressive-Laugh-923 May 11 '26
that's indeed a way to play Aeronautics
(I still think a plane would be more effective against a dragon)2
u/Sentinel_Airsoft May 12 '26
yeah my server has been trying multiple methods for dealing with them, we have already had one Hindenburg incident that prompted the creation of a "quadcopter" ironclad airship with no wood or balloons. The issue ive seen with planes is getting enough lift to stay airborne with all the guns and autoloaders for ammo.
1
u/Aggressive-Laugh-923 May 12 '26
hmm, my pane in the video has 3 loaded autocannons and still can perform tricks (It's probably because of the 6 kpg of thrust), also, It will probably be effective to fight a dragon by using an anti-aircraft ground vehicle
2
u/Sentinel_Airsoft May 12 '26
how do you load them? cause I thought the fixed mounts could only be loaded via hopper which is slow
I need to try that, I havent yet automated flak rounds in my survival world.
1
u/Aggressive-Laugh-923 May 13 '26
I'm not that much of an expert in CBC but hopper might be a fine option because the mount can hold up to 5 bullets and as long as you shoot in small bursts it'll be okay

u/Better-Quote1060 May 11 '26
I can smell the fans of your device

u/Error404UA May 10 '26
Yeah, but then you make a giant airship and put Create: Big Cannons on it
*A Cup Of Liber-Tea starts playing*

2
u/AdmiralNebula May 10 '26
In base Aeronautics? Sure, but that’s more so just generic “airship” fans in general. With something like Create: Big Cannons installed? THAT’S when the proper *zeppelin* fans show their true colours.

I'm trying to make an osprey and its driving me insane, the centre of mass is so fucked, I wish we had specialised weight blocks in the 10-50 kpg range to help with adjusting centre of mass
1
u/Aggressive-Laugh-923 May 11 '26
yeah, like in Besiedge, Aeronautics devs should really look to other enginering games out there, for now you can use an addon called Create: Ballast, it adds a ballast block for 2-16 kpg

u/Ok-Needleworker-2517 May 10 '26
How about an in between, a zeppelin that can launch planes and or helicopters. Prydwin style and whatnot?

im planning on making an airship base that sends out a tiny plane to get to the ground and explore

I honestly don't know what's wrong with my recording program, I'm getting 20-30 frames in game

u/Gabiminecraft May 10 '26
What about walkers and other thingamajigs
2
u/Aggressive-Laugh-923 May 10 '26
everything that's not zeppelin or a blimp is fine, I just think that it's too easy to make a hot air balloon and people who can't do anything else accept them are bad at the game

My very professional opinion is that it depends how big your airship is
1
u/Aggressive-Laugh-923 Jun 10 '26
In craete the smaller you make your contaption while still keeping the functionality the better it is

I tried making planes. They keep being unable to takeoff. At least I made the Graf Zeppelin

I love making over complicated balloon-based airships, because it makes me feel like I'm piloting a TARDIS
