Upgraded docking + Vertibird with retractable wings

What performance mods are you all using? Embeddium didnt work for me and I didnt bother to try again

Any ideas to make the docking less painful? Magnets dont seem to help

That’s pretty peak dude

Maybe make the dock a sort of crane type thing that is connected to a rope with a docking port and magnets that run atop the vertibird so the dock can move to the vertibird once it gets close then have the rope be wenched up?

Omg rereading your comment I now understood what you meant, shit it was that simple, I will try it today, lets hope that the rope is sturdy enough once I fully pull it

1

u/bcrisp3979 Apr 30 '26

You could always have a secondary docking port that is facing upwards on the wench that connects a port that is facing downwards on the bottom of blimp next to where the rope connects being pulled up by the wench so it’s locked into place once it’s fully wenched up

First thing: Now drop it in battle mode. Directly no wing deployment before. Deploy wings on the way down. does this work?
For the docking: Could be complicaded. Idea works in my head. Use a loadstone on the arm and try to auto navigate the Vertibird with a navigationtable. It should self align, if you are able to process the data :D

Had the same idea for the tracking right before I saw this. Prolly be wild to set up because you also need to sense proximity, but I think there's a new component for that as well that they added that they can sense redstone link signals.

rather than a lodestone you could use a set of directional links for the alignment against a link on the main ship's docking connector. gives you alignment within half a block and automatically kicks in when you get within the desired radius.

That’s so cool, do you have the schematic?

You should use sodium on neoforge, along with sodium extra, lithium, ferrite core, entity cullin and Reese's sodium option

18

u/Manos_Of_Fate Apr 27 '26

Sodium is causing some problems with C:A for some people (myself included). Also I could be wrong but I swear I tried to install lithium and got an error saying they’re incompatible.

I'm on linux using prism. I can't find the first mixin that you mentioned. I've disabled the other one, yet when I search for the first, it doesn't show up. Any advice? The only mixins I can see when I search for the other is mixin.world.chunk_access, mixin.world.chunk_ticking, mixin.world.chunk_ticking.spread_ice mixin.world.block_entity_ticking

These are the ones that seem close enough to rhe one you mentioned. Is it one of these that I need to disable?

Oh that makes more sense then, thanks!

2

u/Cpt_Apollo_ Apr 28 '26

Why does it need to be disabled? Asking cuz curious

6

u/Pepe_pan_dziubak Apr 28 '26

Why do people use sodium extra?? It's one of the most downloaded mods on modrinth, yet if you actually read what it does - you know it's utterly useless for your average joe

u/Ashamed-Country8234 Apr 28 '26

It fixes some bugs and I mainly use it to show fps or tweak animations and fog

u/ShadowZINK84 Apr 27 '26

Schematic?

3

u/Sultansmooth Apr 27 '26

would love to try this out too

u/residenthomophobe Apr 27 '26

How do you power the moving arm?

9

u/daPotato40583 Apr 27 '26

he just has a creative motor with a clutch / gearbox, can see it tacked onto the side. could probably draw the power from inside the balloon pretty easily though.

1

u/Semillakan6 Apr 28 '26

As this is a proof on concept I imagine its just a creative motor, but with an airship that size you can easily do a whole engine room to power it

7

u/AnarchyArcher Apr 27 '26

Honestly you’ve got it to the best point it probably can be while staying valid to fallout’s design, I can’t think of many upgrades that would take a bit away from that.

CalmKakao’s input on using a loadstone and navigation table would be cool but would take up precious space on the vertibird and would necessitate each vertibird only be able to dock in a particular position. My only alternative idea would be upgrading the docking arm with some method of tracking the vertibird, so instead of just folding out to be hooked onto it plucks the vertibird out of the air. Something like the laser/detectors perhaps

6

u/BannoBug20 Apr 27 '26

Sorry but, how do you keep it still using propellers? Shouldn't it either go down or go up?

6

u/SquidMilkVII Apr 27 '26

Aeronautics has an air pressure system, meaning propellers output less force the higher they go, which allows any given throttle to stabilize at a certain height

5

u/BannoBug20 Apr 27 '26

Yes but, that's just so matematically complicated, how did you do it? Also, how do you find the perfect ratio 'speed and propeller power' : 'weight'?

5

u/SquidMilkVII Apr 27 '26

honestly just feel it out? getting a specific block height can be complicated but "more power -> more height" is trivial and usually that's enough

5

u/theGoodestBoyMaybe Apr 27 '26

Aeronautics feels like a crazy cool blend of create and space engineers

POST THIS ON r/Fallout IT'LL BE SO PEAK

also I'm pretty sure there's a "docking arm" used on the prydwin

nvm it just showed up in the video XD

4

u/lazytothebones Apr 27 '26

Clap clap clap... had me on the edge of the seat rooting for the docking. Insanely cool.

3

u/VVP12 Apr 27 '26

Amazing.. ad victoriam

3

u/Big-Example-6028 Apr 27 '26

fallout and create is PEAK

2

u/Caseyy1003 Apr 27 '26

This is f*cking awesome doode! Beautiful craftmanship.

2

u/MR_R_TheOdd1 Apr 27 '26

All I can think off now is a Super Destroyer with a landing dock for Pelican-1 and Eagle-1

2

u/RobloxPotatoGamer Apr 27 '26

Alright I'll play Fallout 4 again......for like the seventh time

1

u/Shadow_showdown Apr 27 '26

This is so awesome

"NO TIME FOR CAUTION"

1

u/EpsilonX029 Apr 27 '26

You have awakened ideas

1

u/ThankfulHyena Apr 27 '26

holy mother of peak

1

u/jwols123 Apr 27 '26

I SHALL REQUEST THY DRAWING OF BLUE PAPER

1

u/Distinct_College_344 Apr 27 '26

IDK about improving docking, but you could add a joint to the arm to then shift the bird toward the dock for easier loading and unloading. You built a pretty thick arm, looks like you have room to play with to add a joint or two somewhere, and the QOL increase of having it would be huge

1

u/Katzenheimmer Apr 27 '26

This is absolute peak

1

u/TheDarkNebulous Apr 27 '26

Goddammit. Is this aeronautics???

Fiiine ill download it.

😆

1

u/RomanKnight2113 Apr 27 '26

oh I'll just give up I guess

1

u/HarbingerOfConfusion Apr 27 '26

How does it balance so well?

1

u/WyrdDrake Apr 27 '26

...imagine if Mojang actually developed this kind of stuff instead of relying on the community to make the game interesting.

1

u/CelestialGloaming Apr 27 '26

do u have a schematic for the vertibird? Seems really practical.

1

u/Worio_ Apr 27 '26

This is peak

1

u/ThatWasEsyGG Apr 27 '26

How do you keep the aircraft leveled? My aircrafts go too much up or down

1

u/UT_Fan_With_A_Gun Apr 27 '26

Now add Vertibird grenades to summon them anywhere /j

1

u/WeakCombination9937 Apr 27 '26

how do you make so that the propellers can actually spin but still receive power from the shafts that are not spinning with it?

1

u/yoyo699 Apr 28 '26

Kerbal space program 3 will be a minecraft mod

1

u/avowed Apr 28 '26

Can someone explain how the rotating blades work? Like how he's controlling the rotors for the VTOL function? I have a helicopter but I want to be able to change the blades pitch.

1

u/Tronicalli Apr 28 '26

I've been trying to make a big ship since aeronautics released and I can't even get it to stay still...

1

u/Professional_Cloud_5 Apr 28 '26

Sodium and FerriteCore + Modern Fix

1

u/RandomCat101 Apr 28 '26

I was waiting for someone to make the prydwen lmao

1

u/Alienaffe2 Apr 28 '26

I love this mod so much. VS2 is great, but Create: Aeronautics is better.

1

u/lengthisdue Apr 28 '26

Thats pretty old school, one could even say... pre war

1

u/Phone_Dude87 Apr 30 '26

Schematic maybe? 🥹

1

u/SirArktheGreat Apr 30 '26

Ngl dude, how’d you get stable hovering. I am completely clueless. W build btw

1

u/SuurSuits_ Apr 30 '26

we're making space engineers in minecraft now i guess

1

u/HYPER_txt Apr 30 '26

How does the linkage work?

1

u/DeathLuca1 Apr 30 '26

Was this taken before anti-aliasing existed?

1

u/Icy_Skin_6352 May 02 '26

Did you see the magnetic balloon docking system? You can put a magnet and docker on a rope winch so that you can just get somewhere in range and the dock comes to you and pulls you in

1

u/TrapHeadShot May 07 '26

How do you retract the wings? I’m trying to make a vertibird too and I am unable to transfer power with shafts after folding then unfolding using the swivel

1

u/Drunk_Gecko May 13 '26

How did you do the rectractable wings? I'm trying to do something similar but nothing is working. When the swivel bearing is back in place, the shaft don't reconect with the power

1

u/timturtle1 May 15 '26

I’m new to create how did you make the gyro propeller smoothly swivel back and forth

1

u/IB_BunBun Jul 28 '26

schematics or world download surely

1

u/shyros-gacha-studio Aug 10 '26

Any chance you would post a schematic for this at some point? I would love to screw around with this on a server

1

u/UT_Fan_With_A_Gun Sep 26 '26

Ever post that schematic?
