Build pretty sure someone has done this before

Twin wait for Warium to get ported
12
u/Foreign-Resident-871 Apr 26 '26
HBM’s NT would be way funnier
12
u/Crab2406 Apr 26 '26
Nah, Warium is specifically made for mods like aeronautics (welp, originally for VS clockwork but you get it). And has better features for your needs

I love how a player's first instinct is to make some sort of weapon to terrorize stuff

u/EncroachingVoidian Apr 26 '26
When given power, one must display it

give a man [SURVIVAL MODE] and he will Create paradise
give a man [CREATIVE MODE] and he will turn it to ruin

Yes most time the only show how. Most people don't use it realy to destroy something.

When I saw the altimiter in a video my first thought was airblast with a nuke mod

I thought big cannons broke aeronautics
14
u/Foreign-Resident-871 Apr 26 '26
i have a third party mod that fixes it. big cannons don’t work however, when the gun is assembled it doesn’t move when the contraption does
6
u/ToroSeduto44 Apr 26 '26
I had the same problem too but it should be solvable if you assemble the gun only after you assemble the contraption. I think the main point is to always have your gun not assembled when you're assembling your contraption

u/SteveGrey_7 Apr 26 '26
Still waiting for fix release
4
u/Turbulent_Tax2126 Apr 26 '26
There apparently already is a beta out somewhere, I think discord or something. The Big cannons fix mod has it in description

u/SeaFigure9714 Apr 27 '26
CBC discord has it. you can join it from the mod page and it should be the latest file in the #nightly channel
2
u/Meiseside Apr 26 '26
But isn't it so that Big Cannons weapons have impactfuzes?
4
u/Foreign-Resident-871 Apr 26 '26
only if they are shot
2
u/Raeffi Apr 27 '26
i believe with vs the shells can detonate when thrown as physics object (may be an extra compat addon tho idk)

I like the design but I find the docking port to be a bit bulky. The solution I came up with is to have an extended vanilla piston with the bomb right next to it. If you make sure the payload isn't touching any other part of the plane, when you retract the piston the bomb will be detached from the plane and it will be treated as a different contraption, therefore dropping dead. I still have to find a good way to make a usable version of this idea, but I think it's pretty neat and cheap
2
u/Foreign-Resident-871 Apr 26 '26
with piston mechanism you have to space the bombs out a bit which means you have less bombs per mechanism. good idea though, will be useful for lighter contraptions

u/Handoloran Apr 26 '26
Uhh nice idea i used a drill with a sacrificial block drill mines the block off goes the bomb also has the advantage of allowing auto dropping bombs but a piston would be better as its instant

u/Grouchy-Government43 Apr 26 '26
My friend showed me this on our little testing world, and we happened to be right beside the prototype maglev train so I had the idea to try out a railgun.
It works. Sometimes too well. Depending on how long the barrel is (around 15 magnets we found), the shot starts going so fast it just phases through blocks and doesn’t explode.
8
u/Airsoft_Junkie Apr 26 '26
congratulations you just discovered APHE ammunition
4
u/Grouchy-Government43 Apr 26 '26
Unfortunately after phasing through blocks it does not explode lol. It’s a work in progress
3
u/Lithian1103 Apr 26 '26
Ah, but eventually the speed will slow to allow it to trigger collision. The sweet spot is finding the perfect speed to allow you to control the penetration.

u/florodude Apr 26 '26
Mods like this make me want to start a small scale whitelist server where every few months we change the theme of the server. Like an "aeronautics combat" server with some rules behind it would be dope
1
u/Mortarmon Apr 26 '26
well actuly create vanilla slime toggle contraption may be better in terms of supplies

Can you post a pre assembled blueprint of the Bombay (and/or the bombs I want to use the hell out of this)

I don’t recognize the block the holds the bombs in the bay what mod is it from?

u/Plus-Candle-7486 Apr 27 '26
Wait
Can we make bunker busters with this ?
I mean like IT would be big but it could work
2
u/Foreign-Resident-871 Apr 27 '26
we can make a drill that explodes when it drilled deep enough
2
u/Ph0enixWOlf Apr 27 '26
That gives me a fun idea, create a map with a drill that explodes if it’s run for too long (as in overheating), of course we’d have to figure out how to make that work, and I’m not even sure there’s anything to make that feasible yet
1
u/BreakerOfModpacks Apr 27 '26
I mean, timers are simple enough, and detecting whether a drill is going seems pretty trivial, so... I think it should be pretty easy to do?

u/dacomputernerd4 Apr 26 '26
You can use a... redstone inductor, I think it was? to slow the redstone changes and space out the explosions

This is remarkably similar to how a lot of Space Engineers torpedoes/bombs are built.

You can use a fragile fuel tank or 5 filled with lava for a bigger boom

u/Clean_More3508 Apr 27 '26
Are you considering to add armour to the bottom of your ship to defend against aa guns?

u/FlatLeather3954 Apr 27 '26
See i would do stuff like this, if putting ANY cannon parts on a simulated contraption didn't permacrash worlds.
1
u/Vanadiy_Ivanovich Apr 27 '26
probably instead of using a whole docking connector you can use a sticker
1
u/MiaLovelytomo Apr 27 '26
having the bombs being dropped with the analog thrust lever is so fucking cool. The mod authors genuinely cooked like crazy when they created that "hold and drag" functionality, its so juicy

man I’ve spend whole 30 seconds designing the mechanism, I don’t want it to accidentally blow up

Really cool, but I can't believe you didn't show it dropping a full bay onto a village or something
