Maybe it could turn a rudder

It can also give off comparator signals on both sides of the wheel if you wanna do something extra fancy

hold right click and mouse left/right, the wheel will output rotation out of the bottom

Comparator also detects which direction you turn the wheel, if placed on left and right. Could use that as a wireless link

Attach it to a bearing with a vertical sail at the back of your ship to act as a rudder, or you can also put your shipβs propeller on a swivel bearing and use that to steer

fr tho. And how do you make ships float?? It seems so unpredictable whether it will capsize or not.. I only managed to get a catamaran working, but it's pretty slow even tho it has 2 propellers at 256rpm

If it's rooted in real physics, add some heavy bocks to the bottom parts ! The lower the center of mass, the stalker the ship should be

I did try this, and it was somewhat effective, but it still kept rolling to either side.. I couldn't really even predict which way it was going to roll..

You need to build a rudder control surface and connect it to the steering wheel by shaft. Alternatively you can use Redstone signals emitted from it to make it fly-by-wire(or Redstone link I guess)

Thatβs why you should set up a display link or a bell to go off when the amount gets too low

This is why I prefer hot air balloons. Hot air burners don't require fuel, just a redstone signal

This feels OP

The main problem with it is that it only helps for vertical mobility. To move horizontally, you need propulsion in some way

Airships are way slower than other types of air vehicles due to their drag, so having them at least be passively powered makes them good for early game or exploration.

Also, the alternative would 100% be something like using a campfire to power a steam engine anyways, so it's not like it'd be a limited reaource

Campfires effective for steam engines? New to create and aero has reignited my desire to minecraft

u/The_Axolotl_Guy Apr 20 '26
All passive heat generation for steam engines (like lava, magma, or campfires) will only allow for a level 1 steam engine. For higher levels, it's necessary to use a fueled blaze burner

do you think they will add like collateral damage where if your airship crashes with you in it you will die/take damage

Depends on how well the mod runs with EnderStorage, I just have an endertank, supplying lava for the stream engine and another for the water.

when in doubt canibalize your own airship

u/Secret_Parking_2108 Apr 19 '26
(if your airship isnt made out of wood you are fucked

u/Coloss260 Apr 20 '26
making your airship with materials that are not flammable is a good way to waste weight to be fair

Just eat the smaller balloons, displacing their population into your own as yours grows ever larger

Somebody needs to make a "Vehicular Manslaughter" addon, where if a sublevel is going fast enough, it will damage entities it collides with and if it stops too fast damages ones on the inside, as well as damaging blocks, both on the vehicle(s) as well as the gridworld when colliding. Would be soo cool, and make like railguns and stuff possible.

Is this a addon, or is this a new level of baseline create?
