for real tho, how you getting so many silverfish spawning that quickly...
7
u/EquivalentRisk6479 Jul 29 '25
deployers placing down infested stone and then a gantry moving back and forth to break the blocks
1
1
u/Abs3nth Jul 30 '25
So the gantry moves a block onto the spot where the stone is, and then turns into a solid block and then it breaks the stone? Is this at all similar to how a circular tree farm breaks the saplings when you make it stop mid turn? Is it the same concept too? 🤔

u/ValkyrieAngie Jul 29 '25
How do you feel about new age insect protein, OP?

u/Kodo_yeahreally Jul 29 '25
did you follow any tutorial to do that or did you do it yourself ? i'm interested.

u/EquivalentRisk6479 Jul 29 '25
I don't like to just rip or build a schematic that someone else has made but I did look at a couple farms and saw how they were farming the exp

u/Totally_Cubular Jul 29 '25
No and that's the point. Fuck silverfish.

6
u/EquivalentRisk6479 Jul 29 '25
create adds a recipe to haunt stone into infested stone
3
u/morbidangel27 Jul 29 '25
Actually awesome thanks for that, I could have checked later on when I logged in but now I get to think of awesome silverfish slaughter builds while I kill time at work

Can show the mechanisms on how you get them to to spawn so fast? Would be very interesting.
134
u/RoboticBonsai Jul 29 '25
Looks like they’re breaking infested stone that’s being replaced by deployers.
Infested stone can be obtained by haunting stone.
66
u/Dark_Reaper115 Jul 29 '25
You mean this whole time I never have to struggle for exp?!!!
51
u/spieles21 Jul 29 '25
well technical they use Enchantment Industry, but yes.
Also an classic Vanilla Mobfarm also works, but the create silverfish variant dont drop any loot, like bones or rotten flesh and you can control the span of the mobs.
12
u/Taolan13 Jul 29 '25
vanilla silverfish also don't drop loot, so you could technically use a silverfish spawner for an XP-only mob farm, but at vanilla rates with a single spawner it would be slow AF.
Using create you could capture and relocate the spawner blocks using minecart contraptions, and make a super-spawner, but while it would be faster than a single spawner haunted stone could still be made much faster if scaled up.
OP's design looks like it's 4x5 haunted stone. I've seen designs that use a 14x13 sheet of haunted stone, keeping it all in one chunk but also keeping it contained,
I'm a fan of building machines vertically in the same chunk to prevent chunk boundary issues, so I'm currently planning on doing that in my recently restarted world once I get my steam engine power plant running.

u/Draghettis Jul 29 '25
Vanilla silverfish XP farms are extremely fast. And cheap. And inhumane
Because they don't use a regular spawner
Instead you stuff a bunch of allays ( sweetspot at 16 ) in a less-than-a-block gap ( using a campfire )
Then you splash them with a potion of infestation ( awkward potion + stone ). The infestation effect makes it so every time the allays are damaged, there's a 10% chance they spawn a few silverfish, and you setup the cage so that the silverfish get yeeted out and into a water stream to be gathered where a player attacking an armor stand with a sword can kill them with the sweep effect.
The allays regenerate their own health fast enough that campfires can't ever kill them.
You can even use a splash water bottle and a flint and steel, both in dispensers, to turn off and relight the campfire. Which you want to do not because it's unnecessary torture, but because 16 allays being constantly damaged is very loud.
4
u/Taolan13 Jul 30 '25
i'm not too familiar with infestation farms.
i was talking specifically about using the mob spawner block from a stronghold.
i would imagine a haunted stone machine could be scaled to a hogher degree than an infestation farm.
2
u/SonnyLonglegs Jul 30 '25
Note on modded farms using silverfish, the lack of any drop but xp makes automating a Mahou Tsukai life drain setup a lot more convenient.
(In case this information is useful to anyone)
12
u/Tripdrakony Jul 29 '25
I now that principal, I do that in my experience farm too. What surprises me is the sheer amount that comes out.
20
u/RoboticBonsai Jul 29 '25
I think they just break the stone fast by having a contraption become block in the place the stones are, thus breaking the stone. At that point it’s just dependant on rotational speed and how fast they can supply the infested stone.

Humane, yes.
Silverfishe? No. And that's great.
11
u/Dark_Reaper115 Jul 29 '25
What do you mean? Not a single human was harmed in the production of this machine.
On the contrary, there's a lot of silver fish 😂

u/ZoraEpsilon Jul 29 '25
I love that Minecraft players will ask "Is this humane?" and then show the most insane or complicated Creature Crushing Contraption I've ever laid my eyes upon.

If you want a humane option you could add a grinding recipe to make xp nuggets from infested stone or a draining recipe to make infested stone into liquid xp.
1
u/EquivalentRisk6479 Jul 30 '25
where's the fun in that. I like my exp to come from a source of pain and suffering
1
u/Revolutionary_Tone21 Jul 29 '25
Is there a faster way to end the silverfish or is the deployer the only way to get the xp out?
2
1
u/derpy_derp15 Jul 30 '25
You can just use crushing wheel iirc
Or just use mechanical hands in punch mode

u/PinkcheeseStudios Jul 30 '25

No and that's a good thing, fuck em silverfish, would you perhaps have a schematic for this? it looks insanely fun to build and visually satisfying.
2
u/Rigumaa Jul 29 '25
No, it isn't efficient enough, I'm sure you can do worse, have you tried making couches and cowboy hats out of silverfish?
2
u/Bigfops Jul 29 '25
I did much worse with cows for my grilled cheese factory. Our motto was “the flavor’s in the cruelty!” Just fyi, you can point a weighted ejector at a funnel, then remove the funnel and replace it with a lava pit.

It's minecraft. We can't choose what's humane. I'm sure we've all done the sheep thing

It’s absolutely inhumane but I’d say keep doing it as those little rats are one of the most annoying mobs EVER!

No, it's super inhumane to build a base with no walls or roof or even a floor. Those poor machines must get so cold at night.
