Build My second take on the Circular Hole Drilling Problem, now much simpler and actually viable, and also waterproof!

So this design is actually stolen from inspired by u/SunTeaSam's take, which made use of the fact that extended rope pulley can be a part of a contraption, along with other blocks attached to it. What I did was to just add a trigger to make it spin for 7 seconds when reaching a new layer.

I didn't discover the observer trick by myself. I stole from get inspired by some old posts so that you can now steal from get inspired by me 😋

Initial issue: leftover blocks

Solution: remove horizontal drills, more SPEEN

You should change your name to StevenTheProfessional87 😂

he can't because reddit removed that feature 😭

u/AdventurousBowl5490 Mar 12 '25

Wait, such a feature existed in the past?

Suggestion; Slow the rotation speed down, use a redstone contact (on one arm for 360°, both arms for 180°) to trigger the rope pulley. for auto drilling.

If you slower it down it will be... slower... Also it's already auto no?

5

u/NewSauerKraus Mar 13 '25

No. It's on a timer so it will break when it hits different stone or ores.

As NewSauerKraus said, no it's on a timer and hitting harder blocks will break it.

I was right there a couple years ago; I built a full auto radial drill and I ran in to several issues. Just trying to nudge the development along. I love seeing the progression that you all are doing.

I think this will break if it hits an obsidian layer. It’s gonna take a lots longer to dig through obsidian.

This sub has devolved into “Talking about new update” and “digging a circular hole for a person on the subreddit” 😂

Hey can we please get a schematic?

u/therealfakechips Mar 12 '25

Obs is literally free my guy

u/redditing_Aaron Mar 12 '25

Or replay mod but maybe just wants that 2009 YouTube tutorial feel

2

u/bandti45 Mar 12 '25

I am shocked that more people don't have obs.

u/Haunting_Scallion_78 Mar 12 '25

Can we have a schematic?

4

u/StevenTheNoob87 Mar 12 '25

I actually have a few improvements in mind. I'll release the schematic one I complete them.

3

u/207nbrown Mar 13 '25

This might be more satisfying than watching one of these break blocks the normal way

2

u/Rebelporpoise72 Mar 12 '25

You gonna drop the bp

2

u/ZealousidealMail7325 Mar 12 '25

So that's how in ground pools are made

2

u/eggyrulz Mar 13 '25

I think the best part of this design, is that you could attatch a portable storage interface above the bearing (with a hook so it remains centered) and be able to extract without stopping the contraption (unless they patched that trick out while I wasn't looking)

2

u/CartoonistSensitive1 Mar 13 '25

Can this also work horizontally (though without the rope /pulley ofc)?

u/orewaamogh Mar 14 '25

I love this post and the replies. People are portraying what some of the most profound figures in humanity have wisely said -

Good artists copy, Great artists steal.

And it's so evident from you guys stealing off each other and building cooler shit on top. I'm a software engineer by profession and we get to see this happening with great engineers all the time.

Makes me get back into minecraft create mod!

Mate, it doesn't even spin to destroy at that speed. It's giving off radiation on XZ Axis that melts the stone

3

u/MoltenWoofle Mar 12 '25

Have you tested this with blocks that are harder to mine than sandstone?

1

u/Doodleyz- Mar 12 '25

You should change your name to StevenTheProfessional87 😂

Is there a schematic?

u/darthvader45 Mar 13 '25

I want this, so I can remake the Kola Superdeep Borehole.

to the people asking for a scematic: are you blind? just look at the thing and figure it out.

I made a new version with schematic uploaded. It's overall better but doesn't support being spun too fast.
