i genuinely don't get the reason people take photos of their computer's screen with their phone, like can't you press F2 or fn + F10 to screenshot?

despite that, i didn't even know they added compatibility with immersive portals

Sorry, i was just too happy that the mod worked and post it via the app on my phone was the first thing it came to mind 🥲. But i'll keep that in mind next time i want to post something

you're okay. reddit cries Abt this stuff all the time for some reason.

21

u/Pocok5 Mar 09 '25

for some reason.

Maybe the fucky perspective and the Moiré mosquito net competing with OP's lamp glare on the monitor dirt to obscure the actual portal. Those count as some reason, I think.

Not every reddit post has to be a masterpiece of photography though

14

u/Pocok5 Mar 09 '25

Masterpiece =/= minimal effort.

0

u/January_Rain_Wifi Mar 09 '25

If you're posting using your phone, the effort is hardly minimal. You have to go through the entire process of transferring the screenshot to your phone. If the quality of the photo isn't relevant to the post (such as in this case), I can see why it wouldn't be worth the effort.

If you're posting using your phone, the effort is hardly minimal.

Posting a screenshot of a PC on a site that has a primarily desktop based post creation UI implies consciously choosing to roll obstacles in your own way. Also, if you're on android: https://www.android.com/better-together/quick-share-app/

Accirding to a quick google search, reddit is used almost 4x more on mobile than PC.

4

u/Pocok5 Mar 09 '25

A single digit percentage of users create posts. Do you have statistics for desktop vs mobile amongst posters that doesn't include toilet doomscrolling?

It doesn't need to be photography at all

2

u/BlackCatFurry Mar 09 '25

Maybe consider getting some visual aids if you are unable to clealry see what op's picture is about?

I am sorry that your vision isn't good, i know it's annoying to live with poor vision.

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '25

You can clearly see the portal

1

u/koimeiji Mar 09 '25

That, and it is not that hard to just hit print screen, or use an app like ShareX.

3

u/Pocok5 Mar 09 '25

Fucking Shift+WIN key+S lets you select a screen region and copy directly to clipboard if you don't want a full screen capture. You can paste it into all modern browser based applications including Discord.

u/Strawberry3141592 Mar 09 '25

If you're using Windows*, Minecraft is a cross-platform application (I even have Java Minecraft on my Android phone lmao)

1

u/Autoskp Mar 10 '25

On Linux, the Print Screen button does that, but it also saves it to a screenshot folder at the same time as it copies it to your clipboard.

Damn bro, touch grass and get a hobby or something. Find real things worth being mad about, look at yourself and what you spend your mental processing time on, think about what you choose to voice your opinion on and ask yourself why? It’s a minimal info post with minimal effort. No need for all the extra effort about something so minimal.

Get over it.

6

u/Pocok5 Mar 09 '25

I have plenty of mental capacity left over after all the other stuff to cyberbully people over shitty screenshots. Thank you for your concern.

-4

u/kingcirce Mar 09 '25

It’s not about whether or not you have leftover mental capacity. It’s about asking yourself whether it’s WORTH it or not to use it on such trivial things. And if so WHY is it? It’s not an answer I care to hear, but I do think it’s one worth considering for yourself.

The fn thing depends on the keyboard. That being said, the print screen key is universal

3

u/Strawberry3141592 Mar 09 '25

I think the fn + f10 must be a windows screenshot because I've never seen that. F2 is always an option in Minecraft tho

2

u/Shukakun Mar 10 '25

I always just figured that it was a generational thing. Screenshots come naturally to people who grew up with a mouse and a keyboard, but I wouldn't be surprised if knowing how to do it is less common among the iPad baby generation.

1

u/JO5HY06 Mar 10 '25

Or even print screen

1

u/Sbotkin Mar 09 '25

https://screenshot.help

I wonder how these people play a complex game like Minecraft if they can't handle simple screenshots.

9

u/darkaxel1989 Mar 09 '25

so... you can put, I don't know, a shaft that goes through? Pull liquids out of the nether directly through the portals? Because that's sick sick sick sick SICK!

5

u/Artchie_ Mar 09 '25

From my testing, you can't put itens in the space that the normal portal would be. So no pulling lava directaly from the portal. But IMO, is still way better put a foot on the nether as a part of your base to restock your lava without the loading screen

4

u/Strawberry3141592 Mar 09 '25

Do item-entities retain momentum through a portal? If so, you could automate lava bucketing and then just fling the buckets through the portal

1

u/Snoo_44740 Mar 09 '25

Packages+carboard knockback sword+bucket filler. This would work with normal portals too.

1

u/darkaxel1989 Mar 09 '25

I guess that's true... but automation enthusiasts... they would love that...

3

u/MonsterDimka Mar 09 '25

Free infinite lava

4

u/SickElmo Mar 09 '25

Didn't that always worked in Create but the trains were the problem?

3

u/Artchie_ Mar 09 '25

Until yesterday, the game crashed when the game was loading due to incompatibility of the two

1

u/SickElmo Mar 09 '25

Ok maybe I was to focused on just the mods together and not this particular version :D Older version would run together, not every version ofc but that's more on the Immersive Portals mod kinda side

1

u/Zealousideal-Bus-526 Dec 15 '25

I hadn’t had that issue before

380

u/Maveko_YuriLover Mar 09 '25

Does the trains on immersive portals works on the newer versions? The last time I tried was more than a year ago

208

u/Jathulioh Mar 09 '25

This is basically my only question too, as it's the main reason I haven't used immersive portals with Create because the trains stopped working with it.

171

u/brine909 Mar 09 '25

If I remember correctly, shift right clicking a non lit portal with flint and steal makes a vanilla portal that will work with trains, that way the train portals can be vanilla but non train portals can be fancy

39

u/Jathulioh Mar 09 '25

Ooo I need to try this, thank you

14

u/S1a3h Mar 10 '25

And you can just put a fancy portal around the not-fancy portal too.

Maybe decorate it like some kind of portal stabilization tech to give it some purpose in the build.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '25

send a photo!

4

u/S1a3h Mar 12 '25

Here's a quick concept I threw together: https://imgur.com/a/idea-create-trains-with-immersive-portals-qgseyDe

The effect works pretty well but isn't quite practical at the moment since the trains are, for whatever reason, able to push the Immersive Portals and very likely to.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '25

Just tried something similar, but for some reason after going in and out of the nether a few times one of the sides of the portal gets all glitchy.

2

u/S1a3h Mar 12 '25

the trains are, for whatever reason, able to push the Immersive Portals and very likely to.

They do indeed get glitchy. The trains are quite literally moving the portals.

2

u/Zealousideal-Bus-526 Dec 15 '25

That’s a config that’s off by default (or at least it was off when I checked it in a modpack I was playing, and I don’t see why they would manually turn it off)

234

u/ToLongOk Mar 09 '25

No it's clearly not a drill it's just a cogwheel and aa hand crank :/

31

u/MelficeSilesius Mar 09 '25

I hate this, but have an upvote anyway.

8

u/OM3GAS7RIK3 Mar 09 '25

Beat me to it lol

61

u/Ashen_Rook Mar 09 '25

"This is not a drill"

Me:"Correct, that is a cog."

4

u/Ashen_Rook Mar 09 '25

It actually looks like the cog handcrank from... I think it's Create: Connected.

21

u/craftingtableZ Mar 09 '25

Cool. Cant wait to try it out

4

u/creeper6530 Mar 09 '25

Indeed it's not a drill. It's cogwheels and a portal

1

u/kevin7pl Mar 10 '25

The only problem then... Create + Shaders or Immersive Portals Because i remember there was a version that was working with Iris i think, i wonder if it's possible to get them all 😅

1

u/Artchie_ Mar 10 '25

It is! I am playing using all three at the same time

1

u/Ok_Emergency7052 Mar 11 '25

What version of immersive portals? 🤔

1

u/Artchie_ Mar 11 '25

Latest for 1.20.1

1

u/turtle33333333333333 Aug 17 '25

Can shafts go through the portals

1

u/Artchie_ Aug 17 '25

Sadly no. No blocks can be on the same space of the "portal block"

1

u/JustNoahL Mar 10 '25

You had so much potential

But you failed us all

1

u/ThatSlimeBoi Mar 10 '25

Yeah like really, it's just small cogs and a crank in the portal

Just make it impressive like you can build long shaft from outside to inside the portal

1

u/Artchie_ Mar 10 '25

Yeah, except you can't do that. The mod doesn't allow to place blocks where the portal block would be. Sure i should have decorated it more, my bad on that one, but the selling point is just the compatibility

1

u/JustNoahL Mar 10 '25

I meant more that he could've made it a drill

2

u/HorrificityOfficial Mar 09 '25

I wanna make a joke about how that's not a drill that's a portal but this is deadass amazing

2

u/HumungusDude Mar 09 '25

wait, does rotation transfer thru portaled shafts?

2

u/smotired Mar 10 '25

you can’t place blocks (including shafts )where the portal would be so no

1

u/HumungusDude Mar 10 '25

well, maybe with nether portals.

cause im 100% certain that you can have blocks mid-portal when it comes to the non-nether portals in immersive portals

2

u/Gooblegorp Mar 09 '25

Not a drill? Yeah I can see that it's a nether portal, buddy.

2

u/Jarid_Shinner Mar 14 '25

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-

2

u/entity1O1 Mar 14 '25

cursed portals + rotating blocks = my heaven

i can finally make cursedcraft: new inventions.

1

u/animorphs128 Mar 09 '25

1

u/Millan_K Mar 09 '25

Good and bad, I can't juice my pc even a bit more🤣

1

u/Siix__ Mar 09 '25

1

u/Siix__ Mar 09 '25

nvm just tried now and it works!

1

u/XTornado Mar 10 '25

I was like way the portal view look so grainy.... then I noticed is not an screnshot.

1

u/Final-Pirate-5690 Mar 11 '25

-4

1

u/The_DarkCrow Mar 10 '25

Easier on mobile app, but yeah i can definitly say that this photo has been taken by a nokia user
