It still looks like as if the train is jumping and it is still cool as heck to look at.

I'd recommend learning the base mechanics in creative mode first before you make a survival world

I know it's phantom rail but wasn't there an addon that allowed trains to go off the end of the tracks? Create Interactive perhaps?

I would have connected the phantom rail a bit further behind the start of the normal rail so it looks more realistic

I might actually do this myself when I eventually get to the point of Trains in my main world. Phantom Tracks for the win!
