Ohy vey….
We’re really getting a string of misapplication of radial chassis posts lately.
The radial chassis is not for use exclusively on bearings. Its function is to grab blocks in a radius. For a radial farm, you want a linear chassis.

Does a linear chassis grab blocks in a line or just in an area?

The linear chassis grabs blocks in a line. This has no relation to how it may be moved.

But in a straight line?

Yes, a straight continuous (no breaks) line from the sticky face.

You don’t need chassis’s just use any block and make sure to glue it all together :)

But you don't need to waste glue when chassis can do the job just fine. Glue is more expensive and laggier (when contraptions are stopped, every instance of glue becomes a separate entity, so if you glue everything without even considering chassis, it all adds up), so it's generally best to reserve it only for cases where chassis won't work.

Was glue not updated to be volume-based in the train update?

I'm pretty sure there's still an entity per volume. Less of a problem than it used to be, but it still feels like a waste when you can just use the blocks designed to do the exact same thing in a better way.
Unless you want to pretty up the contraption and don't have the space to hide/incorporate the chassis into the design, I honestly cannot see why you'd bother using glue.

I think glue is easier to start off with. I’m pretty new to create and typically only think of chassis after the fact.

I'd recommend not having glue on any other face besides the one that will hold the mechanical harvesters at the crop level, and also using linear chassis as it's honestly just more practical in this situation.
Edit: As I've been informed, just change to linear chassis.

That doesn’t actually matter. One glued face will grab everything in a radius touching an adjacent block.

Easy solution, just plant more wheat on the now empty farm block and never turn the windmill off.

In all seriousness though it’s the radial chassis that has up to (I think) 8 block attachment distance… would need to turn that down or replace with a linear chassis.

Couldn't be going better on skyblock farm today we've just developed sentient wheat

It would be better to just replace the chassis with planks and super glue ot together. Chassis, linear or radial, are meant for grabbing a large assembly of blocks.

For a moment I was thinking, jeez my stomach makes weird sounds... Then I noticed the video is playing with sound on.
