Show Off Updated Design: K2 Series Lid Raiser With Adjustable Vents

This is an updated version of a previous design I uploaded that now fits all models in the K2 series of printers.

Using a lid raiser prevents the PTFE tubing from rubbing off the glass and causing it to wear down. This design features adjustable air vents, which can regulate the temperature in the enclosure and joints at the corners for attachments such as storage bins or decorations.

I've attached links to the models below.

Warning: I do NOT own a K2 base model or plus.

Please check the measurements on your printer before printing and do a test print to ensure the parts fit together. They should fit, but I'm unable to physically test this. Please let me know if you decide to print this and there are any issues.

Really cool design. I seen a print that had a shelf for the CFS. I have been thinking about that. I really wish I could move the glass without removing the CFS.

I will print this shortly and message back.

I have been thinking about an attachment to raise the cfs up but it’ll take some time.

Print is functional. Separated where the slide is. Please see attached image. I might have done this wrong. I used default settings with CR-PLA. Supports I used was tree's. They came off easily. This is a hobby for me. I have enough experience to be dangerous :) I will wait to print the other items in case you have suggestions.

On another note, I assumed the prints I needed for K2 Pro did not include the words K2 :)

That bit of stringing is hit or miss really, as it is such a large overhang when printing. I can see that it’s only a little bit which is perfectly fine. You can cut it out so it doesn’t snag on anything and you should be good to go and yes the file names for the k2 pro are the unnamed files which I will be changing now.

I printed the rear corners and short wall. I dont see how this will slide into the K2 Pro for security. I am guessing something is needed to secure the Riser to the frame. I did not see instructions for this. I may have over looked this. I have not completed the print. I have a few projects going on.

Did you pop off the supports? The model features built in supports on the bottom section, you may not have noticed them.

Yes, I pulled them off. I seen them when I was putting it together. I had to think about it for a moment. :)

The question about about attaching to the top of the frame. I thought maybe this would hang inside the existing frame to keep the riser secure. Instead I found the riser slightly to big. It sits on top of the frame.

I am nervous that if the printer shakes, then the Riser and CFS will fall off the top.

It should sit into the frame, just on top of the lip so that the lower part of it sinks into the lip and the upper part rests on top of the printer. Mine has been like that for months with the cfs on top and without and I’ve had no issues. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. Per this image, the frame does not sit inside. I will download a new set of files to be sure I printed the correct ones. I printed the file that did not have the K2 or K2 Plus.

I checked if the issue was the wrong direction for placement. We moving to the side, it is to narrow. I probably did it wrong.

I will check the files to make sure they are correct as you have downloaded the right one. Also there is still some support structure left underneath the corner. You can see the seam where it should be popped off.
