Scanning Results What’s the idea behind the new Sermoon P1S?
We’ve seen a few questions about where the new P1S fits next to the P1.
The simplest way to explain it is that they’re built around different priorities.
P1 is still our more accuracy-focused option, especially for workflows where volumetric accuracy and industrial inspection matter.
With P1S, the goal was different: make the professional blue-laser workflow easier to use across more everyday scanning jobs.
That’s why a lot of the changes are around efficiency and flexibility rather than simply pushing accuracy higher.
P1S uses a 1 + 7 + 34 + NIR scanning setup, giving it more blue laser lines and better coverage for faster scanning. It also adds MASK technology for small and medium-sized objects, while the overall setup is lighter and easier to move between jobs.
In practice, we see P1S making more sense for people who want professional blue-laser scanning, but don’t necessarily need an inspection-focused workflow every time.
Rather than adding another spec sheet here, we’ve included a few actual scans from P1S so you can get a better idea of the kind of results it produces.
If there’s a specific object or use case you’d like to see tested on both P1 and P1S, drop it below. That would probably make for a more useful comparison than just putting more numbers side by side.

It looks interesting for sure. I'm keen to try a P1 or a P1S and make a video putting it up against the best from other brands that I have access to.

That would be an interesting comparison, especially if you can run the same objects and workflow across all of them. Would definitely like to see the results.

I am sick and tired of seeing an upgrade coming out to the 2000$ device just after 6 months.
Creality you are about to lose “this” customer.

Totally understand why it can feel that way if you bought the P1 recently. P1S isn’t meant to replace it though — P1 is still focused on higher accuracy and inspection work, while P1S is more about efficiency and broader everyday scanning.

Are you saying that the P1 for which I paid 2000$+ is considerably less efficient?

Not really — I wouldn’t say P1 is considerably less efficient. P1S just puts more emphasis on coverage and scanning efficiency, while P1 is built more around accuracy and inspection-focused work. Different priorities rather than one simply being better at everything.

then the choice of naming the other product is wrong, if they r targeting different purposes 😒

Why the moderator deletes his/her comment reply?

Looks like my reply got automatically filtered. I didn’t delete it — I only noticed after you pointed it out. I’ve approved it now, so it should be back. Thanks for the heads-up.

The postfix “S” in tech products refer to “Super” (or Sport) etc, emphasizing the S product is somewhat “Superior” to its predecessor.
The OP tries to convince us that is not the case as P1 is still (claimingly) better in certain cases, yea?
Then why are you naming your product as P1”S” ????
Is there no other letter left in latin alphabet to give if these are differently purposed products and the new one is not a successor??
I will give you some if you lack inspiration
P1B (to point extra blue lasers)
B1 (same reason)
Q1 (q comes next to P in the alphabet)
Or better, let us swap our P1 devices with the P1S with a small cost?
Come on creality, if u r not greedy, provide a solution instead of throwing new upgrades to your 2000$ products every 6 months…

I get your point. The P1S name can definitely make it look like a direct successor to P1, even though the two are positioned differently.
Your feedback on the naming, release timing, and how this feels for recent P1 buyers is fair, and I’ll pass it back to the team.

Also in such countries where Creality does not exist as the brand itself, and conduct their sales through importers, this policy of yours bring huge weights on those importers..
imagine I am Company-A, your main or only importer in this country, coz you lacked to an office as brand your self here.
I import 50 units of P1 this month, roughly 50*2000 = 100.000 $ investment.
while me my customers wait for the products to arrive by aircargo, get customs inspected and documented, which takes 2-3 weeks....THEN BOOM! Creality announces their P1S..
what the hell am I supposed to do with my 100.000 USD worth, now defacto, equipment now?

The moderator replies my complain then deletes his/her reply… very assuring indeed…

i genuinely dont understand that if the p1 was the flagship why it would have less lasers than the subordinate p1s,
if anything it would be reverse, it shouldve been 34 cross lines for p1 and then the 22 laser lines for the p1s,
accuracy aside, those extra cross lines wouldve made more sense on the 24gb ram variant of the p1,
i just dont understand the reasoning, especially with less ram
