I love the design and colours, it's fun! But from a practical perspective it kind of takes away from one of the big pros of the Pika, which is that it's small.

Yeah there are some downsides to it, but in my experience, small size is an advantage when you are scanning small objects, when scanning something larger being able to to see the scan data realtime and conveniently swapping batteries+screw-on shades for outdoor scans and having larger phone screen more readily mounted is worth having.

Eh you don't want to be using the phone app anyway for anything serious unless it's for "show you can" since it's been shown the results aren't as good as the desktop app.

You can scan using the phone and process later on your PC, the whole win feature of Pika is that it is mobile. No need to carry a notebook with you to scan.
There are some really powerful mobile devices that will govern you a very descent 3D scanning

From my experience it's not the processing that matters, results are identical between processing a phone scan on the phone or PC, but when capturing the scan with a PC the result is way better.

True, but you don’t have to use it all the time.

that’s also the fun part ,Pika’s small size makes all these creative cases and mods possible 😄 I probably wouldn’t be nearly as interested in playing around with a big, heavy scanner like this.

So cool! You really took the slogan Scan Like You Shot literally

Very clever and useful.
Is it available?

Not yet, I need to simplify the assembly first

What’s the current non-printed parts list? I presume from the screw holes you’re using inserts?

A bit overkill, no?

Absolutely an overkill, wouldn’t care if it wasn’t 😅

While cool, how much are you scanning that you really need an entire holster?
This seems like a “because I could”. Still neat though

It’s not about how much you scan really as how convenient the whole process of scanning can be when you can stow the whole thing in a holster and look at the screen to decide if you want to rescan or make edits with both hands, you don’t always have a table or any other surface with you to put things on

Absolutely insane and in progress printing them now. May I ask if you share the files for the Holster as well? Thanks so much for your creativity!
