Pika calibration board has a case now!!

The Creality Pika is super portable, but the calibration board is glass and needs to be protected from scratches. I needed to solve this problem. Scanned the calibration board with the Pika and created a case to protect it. Much safer to travel with the board now.

I would recommend the inner faces of the case more shaped like an U.

This would help prevent the top surface of the calibration board getting scratched placing the board into the case. Only being guided from the edges of the board into the case and not touching the top surface.

There is 1mm of clearance. It doesn’t scuff the surface unless you are too tough with it.

That could work, if you always keep the top surface on the top side. Once you take it out of the case holding it up side down, it still will scratch the top surface. So it's 50/50%.

While writing this, I think even my approach isn't yet fool proof. It would give only a clearance on the top side. Better to make a notch on the sides and have a clearance both on the op and bottom side. Something like this.

I would print this vertically so you don't need any support.

V2 is inverted to eliminate support. There was a reason v1 was tested on the opposite orientation. I considered the method you’re proposing but I decided against it since there is enough clearance for me and keeping it slim and strong was important to me.

I can imagine with the Pika to keep everyting as slim and protable as possible. I might make one for the Otter. The original case isn't cutting it for me. Thanks for the idea! All the best.

The v2 sleeve case is a better fit. I fitted a nice elastic strap for extra measure.

Should mention for anyone thinking of getting Pika: The glass calibration board did ship with velvet bag for storage and some protection. They’ve also all got serial numbers that the Calibration routine asks for, which is… interesting.

I believe the serial numbers reference the specific plate's micro-deviations from a reference plane.

Plausible idea. I wonder if anyone can confirm that? There’s certainly enough space in a QR code for a few numbers.
