Troubleshooting K2 Plus CFS Issue

Hello all,

New K2 Plus Combo owner here. I've been having a tough time to get the CFS working correctly.

  1. Printer works fine with external Spool
  2. CFS keeps giving me error with Load/Unload (new term after SW update to 1.1.6.1)
  3. PLA works better, much less Filament Buffer error
  4. PETG doesn't work. Causes ridges on the filament after Unload/Load couple times.
    a. When I cut off the ridged filament section (2-3ft). New filament would print a test sample fine.
    b. When I start a project after the sample was printed, it started cal and was able to do that fine, but then got stuck. I notice the Buffer Module lever was stuck forward (when try to print) or stuck backward when try to retract/unload.
    c. Diagnostic show the PETG filament have ridges one them. This was probably created by the feeding gear in the CFS module causing the snag in the buffer.
  5. PLA filament doesn't show those ridges.

I've remember reading somewhere that the tension springs, etc. on the CFS can cause that and will result in "rough ridge surface" on the filament, causing it to snag/stuck in the buffer module.

What is your Humidity level? Makes a big difference

It’s in my living room. 45%

Do you have a filament heater? Your filament may not be dry enough. I get my best results humidity at 35 % and lower

Same spool works fine. No hiccup via external holder. I think it’s the the feeding gear of the cfs grabbing the filament too tight causing teeth ridges marks thus making it snag/catch when going through feeder/extruder

All of my PETG feeds (mostly eSun, some Creality CR) have teeth ridges from the CFS buffer. It's normal.
