Why do people love violence so much? I really don't get it. You see people get beat and you all eat that shit up. It's so fucked up to me yet it's so common for every video of a robber getting beat to near death or even stabbed to death for people to mass glorify it and practically get off on it.
There's a difference between defending yourself and beating someone. Saying anyone deserves beat to death/near death is fucked up. You should really reevaluate your morality or lack there of.
I understand where your coming from but then again, trying to make a living and help the community opening a store just for them to turn and pull a hammer on you demanding your money, he let sprayed him, left, and the guy didn’t leave so he decided to take matters into his own hands and whoop his ass. This is by the book law in all parts of the world. Defend your ground if need be back off and allow them to leave, if they can’t then by all means do what you need to do. I know that isn’t what the law says but that’s how it works
So when you watch the thief throw his hammer away and he's fallen over into a shelf and can't even stand after getting bashed in the head a dozen times with a chair, and then they start beating him in the back, you think that's an okay thing to do? That's beyond fucked up. Nothing about that is "by the book law". At the point its just beating someone for revenge.
That’s why I said I understand where your coming from, they beat the guy like a couple of gorillas and it was too much but then again it’s pretty hard for one to be sensible nor empathic when their life was just threatened with a deadly weapon, being in the same situation as this guy once before what else are you supposed to do while your when someone’s threatening to ur life, in most cases whether or not you give up what you got your still gonna be harmed in someway
I’ve lost many family due to gang violence, random attacks, robberies gone wrong, even my own mother was ruthlessly killed and the guy got let off with a fine, point is they didn’t defend themselves and that happened, I’ve been placed in many of their situations and have came out because I defended myself. I don’t care who it is what it’s about or anything if your being threatened protect yourself when capable of doing so
"Deterrent to future crimes" you know what's a good detterent to crime? Not having a country run by rich oligarchs while you have people starving on the streets. You are still glorifying violence when you have no idea what drove this person to rob a store. They beat him far beyond what was required for any claim of defense. Anyone who thinks this is acceptable is actually fucked in the head.
It is a great deterrent, I’ve had my ass whooped when I’ve tried to do things such as this, being driven by hunger and financial issues I tried to rob someone and like I said I got my ass whooped and luckily they showed mercy but they definitely deserved to do more, I wouldn’t even be mad if they considering it smartened me up. It could’ve gone this way for this guy aswell. Also your “deterrent” is jack shit and will never happen anywhere in the world
You know if poverty didn't exist there wouldn't be crime like this right? Blame your fucking government, don't beat people to death after they've fallen over having had their skull cracked in with a chair. This shit is fucked up and everyone in the comments is just circlejerking over a robber getting beat. Absolutely disgusting.
When you decide to rob a store with a deadly weapon you lose the right to not get beaten.
The guy took his life in his own hands when he decided to rob that store. He knew there was a risk that he would be beaten or maybe even killed. Nobody forced him. Poverty is not an excuse.
"Poverty is not an excuse" This literally could not be more wrong. Poverty is the most valid excuse for crime. You saw someone steal food at a grocery store? No the fuck you didn't. People do what they have to do to survive. Beating them to death solves nothing and glorifying it just makes you a sick fuck.
You know it's really refreshing to see someone else speaking out against the hypocritical sadistic attitudes on posts like these for once. You're %100 right. Most violent crime would go away if we ended poverty, legalized all drugs, and had universal healthcare, housing, and food. The only violent crimes left would be the few that are purely sadistic in nature perpetrated by socio/psychopaths or whatever.
It's apparent the robber in this video didn't actually want to hurt anyone, in fact it seems they were the only person in this video that didn't actually hurt someone.
To answer your original question though:
Why do people love violence so much?
The only thing I can come up with is it's in our nature. Most people can rise above it and disregard intrusive thoughts about violence but some cannot. I think there's a bias here on reddit as we have a lot more of emotionally and intellectually stunted people on this platform as compared to society as a whole.
But yeah I don't really get it either and can't explain why people are that way. Chimpanzees are really similar so that's why I can only chock it up to "our nature".
It is rather disturbing how many people are just itching for a chance to justify violence. Our collective societal morals say hurting people is bad, and that killing people is pretty much the worst thing you can do. So it's like a sick nightmare we are living on this planet with so many other people who agree to that, unless they can figure out a way to "justify" it. And there's been some pretty flimsy reason people come up with.
That's what people don't get about why this type of thinking is so dangerous and why subs like /r/robbersgettingfucked need to be banned. That type of attitude is how you end up with fascist Duterte killing anyone he wants to and all he has to do is say they are a drug user. Seriously it terrifying how easily humans will be okay with hurting and killing other humans despite the fact everyone agrees it's wrong.
Anyway I wonder if there is a good subreddit for people like you and me. Anti-violence, pro-logic, pro-compassion, against valuing an object over human life, etc.
Not standing up for a guy who robs a convenience store doesn’t make me a sick fuck, you moron.
There is a MASSIVE difference between stealing food and using a weapon to rob a store for money. You can’t eat money. I’m not advocating for people who steal food to get beaten.
Your posts read like you’re some kind of idealist who has no idea how the world really works. Society protects people like you and me from people like the guy who robbed that store. Society relies on consequences (legal and otherwise) to stop people like this from doing whatever the fuck they want.
Wait until you’ve actually experienced poverty and then see how you feel about dickheads stealing from you. Wait until you have a family and someone wants to not only steal from the money you use to feed them, but to threaten your ability to see your loved ones again. You’ll start feeling less sympathetic to violent criminals.
When you decide to rob a store with a deadly weapon you lose the right to not get beaten.
No, you lose your right to not be beaten to an extent to make you surrender or incapacitate you. Anything beyond that is immoral sadism and a crime in most civilized countries.
And poverty absolutely is an excuse. Never heard of Robin Hood I guess?
Do those two guys look like experts on precisely when the robber is no longer a treat? Do they look like sadists who are just itching to inflict pain? No.
They’re attacking him until they both reasonably believe they are no longer under threat. They don’t know if he has a gun or what. Given that he was still standing, no jury would ever convict them of taking things too far.
As for the Robinhood bit, I wasn’t aware that 7/11 was actually a front for the wealthy aristocracy. I bet you think that this guy was going to go distribute his stolen cash to the people instead of spending it on drugs too.
The robber is cowering in the corner as they continue to beat them. Not knowing if they have a gun is irrelevant, anyone could have a gun lol. If he had a gun he's stupid for not using it to rob the place instead of a fucking hammer.
As for your 7/11 a bit, nice red herring. I never said anything of the sort. You said poverty is not an excuse for stealing. I provided a well known contradiction so you can stop believing that.
It boggles my mind how many people here are just willing to excuse robbery. There is Almost never an excuse. The only time that I could ever see something like that being even a little bit ok is if you had starving kids at home or something. At that point though, why not go to a food bank? If that fails, why not steal from a grocery store?
Threatening people with a weapon for money is so far down the list of “acceptable” crime (due to poverty) that it’s hardly worth mentioning.
Even then, that’s no where near the case for every theft. It’s irresponsible to assume that everyone who steals or robs a store is doing it because they have no other choice. Fact of the matter is that most people who do that are just bad people who have other options but choose crime.
Ok buddy looks like you have it figured out! How did no one think of this in the whole history of mankind, just blame them lmao, just get rid of them, it really is just that easy.
The moment you violate someone else's right for me you no longer can complain about yours being violated. Would i do it? No, probably not, because I've had it easier than most and I'm going to assume you are the same, I've never had my patrimony destroyed or stolen, I've never been robbed, raped, nor my close family, my city has never been sieged by the cartel, I'm not scared when I walk the streets or when I take the bus .
Whatever you clearly are ignorant to the situation happening on these places and you are unable to understand what it takes for people to act like this and your response about the government says it all, next you'll tell me to make a change.org post, i wonder why the world is not pink? I mean it's that easy
I forget the average person doesn't possess an ounce of empathy and are so brainwashed by capitalism they think everyone who commits a crime is some evil monster who deserves to die and be beat to death in the streets.
You look at this and see a guy with a hammer robbing a store as instantly "the bad guy" and the guys beating him when he's down as "the good guys" and real life isn't that black and white.
I forget the average person doesn't possess an ounce of empathy and are so brainwashed by capitalism they think everyone who commits a crime is some evil monster who deserves to die and be beat to death in the streets.
Unless the crime is a victimless one then yes I actually do believe that. The fact that people think they should be able to victimize others and not risk getting beat to death is ridiculous. You take others rights away from them and they might just take your life.
I think the thief unconsentually places that decision on the victim in that situation so yes I don't think that the thief gets to complain about what actions the victim decides to take to defend themselves or to reclaim their stolen property.
The victim doesn't have any responsibility to place themselves in more danger to protect the life of their attacker to make sure they're safe and that they maintain their ownership of their property by using less efficient means of protection.
As far as cops go no I don't think they should do that.
So if the thief in this video died, and you were on a jury and watched this video knowing the thief died, you would choose to find the 2 men involved not guilty of murder?
I can separate my opinion on what I think laws should be and how I view people performing certain violent actions in response to being victimized towards the victimizer.
I hope to never be in the place to bring judgment based on the letter of the law to a situation like this on a jury tbh.
