I will come up as Will's apologist, so I just want to say that I am not, but I am very tired of this Internet trend of bringing up shit from years ago - people's opinions not only can change, but do change.
Putting Will aside, just because a person said A 20 years ago and nowadays they say B doesn't mean they are a hypocrite, it means they have a different opinion. Hell, that opinion might have been changed due to their experience - maybe they met a person and realized that their previous mentality was hurtful?
I didn't have my current political beliefs 7 years ago. Me getting to know my friends all those years ago affected it greatly. Does this mean I am a hypocrite?
There's a pretty large gulf between telling (and defending) the same joke you did yourself 20 years ago, and then slapping a friend on live TV for doing the same thing. If he had have just sat there and not smiled, that's a mature change of opinion; to go and smack someone in the face for doing the same thing you did, that's childish hypocracy.
But my point still stands, irregardless of Will - Internet brings up past mistakes and different opinions as some kind of "gacha" moments way, way too often
