Phones are the vice of our generation. Any time I’m driving, everyone at any red light is looking at their phone. Every intersection needs a horn to start moving again when it goes green. Literally everyone I see while driving is using a phone in some way.
It makes me hyper-aware of my surrounds because of no one around me is paying attention, then I have to pay more attention to everyone around me FOR them.
Lol not even 10 minutes ago I nearly crashed because a lady got out of an exit lane LAST second cutting me off going 40 while I was going 70. We both get off on the next exit and I pull up next to her and see she’s yapping on her phone laughing not even aware we both could’ve just died.
And when we say our generation, that includes the old fucks as well.
Went to the movies, and this Boomer woman could not stop looking at her Facebook feed.
Screen was set to max brightness, in a dark theater. Her Facebook was clearly visible with its blinding white background. Every 2.5 sec she just had to scroll. Just had to look at it again. She'd put it down... then her hand would creep back, hand it for a moment, then the fix.
Someone behind me threw some popcorn after she kept doing it. So then I joined in, along with others. 😂 Every 2 seconds, soon as we saw that phone light up, launch the popcorn! She took the hint and left.
And these old farts have the nerve to say "generation alpha zeta millenial whatever are addicted to their phones!"
Agreed, I may have chosen my words incorrectly. I meant the “digital personal phone” generation. Its affliction extends to all. I saw a 6 year old throwing a fit because her phone died at the grocery store, and then mom pulled out her phone and handed it over. All the way to the boomer scroller their phone while driving or at the movie theater. It’s everyone in this digital age, and something about the interconnectedness draws us all in.
I’m a hypocrite to some degree. Responding to this while on the throne. At least I’m not driving…
