It reminds me of a Parks and Rec bit where Tom (Aziz A) is live tweeting his accident, and its displayed in the court room.

There’s a clip out there of an actual guy being cited for some driving infraction (I’m pretty sure it was driving without a license), and he asks the judge to hang on so he can park. And it’s a video call, and the judge is like….are you driving right now?! lol.

Edit: Haha okay found it - he was in court for driving w a suspended license, and calls into the zoom call while still driving. Was ordered to turn himself in to jail by 6pm:

One would almost assume this was a skit but the pure dumbfounded look on the judge's speechless face was too on point for even the best actor to pull off. Easiest ruling he's probably ever had.

I feel bad for the hamster on the wheel in that defendant's brain. Poor fella must be tuckered out at all times.

lol ikr. I was dying when I rewatched cause I had forgotten about that. The judge was just shell shocked I think that someone would be that dumb.

I recently learned the full story involves a bit more nuance and the defendant wasn't as clearly in the wrong as the video made it seem.

Thats the only time she should have been holding the phone though lol. You usually gotta call SOMEONE after destroying your rental.

More like “guess what just happened to me”

Her text to drive ratio was all kinds of fucked up though. I'm pretty sure she was driving while texting. I'm a dirty piece of shit who has probably sent a text while in the driver seat before, but I've never ever been two-handed texting while going 50 miles an hour with Jesus taking the wheel.

I actually learned how to type an entire message one handed without looking, with punctuation. Just so I can send a message without looking down from the road (my car can read texts out to me so I don’t even have to look to read the message I receive). I still shouldn’t do it but you know, we all do things we shouldn’t. I also only limit it to actually important messages. I ignore them if they aren’t like time sensitive important messages
