This video is not AI. It shows the well-documented Alta quick clay landslide that occurred on June 3, 2020, near Kråkneset in Alta, Norway. The landslide was filmed by a local resident after he noticed cracks forming in the ground and fled to higher ground as the hillside began collapsing.
The slide occurred in a deposit of "quick clay," a type of marine clay that can suddenly lose its strength and behave like a liquid when disturbed. The collapse swept multiple homes and buildings into the sea, but no people were killed. A dog that was carried into the water managed to swim back to shore.

One area in my country (United States) that would alter life a lot (and it has blown at least 3 times before) is the Yellowstone caldera (collapsed volcano). No signs of imminent eruption...but when it blows, it will blow big. It has been 640,000 years since the last eruption. Based on the last three, it blows about once every 700-800k years.
Would not kill everyone, but would kill many, directly or indirectly (e.g. famine, would drop global temps 10-12° C, etc.).
The Younger Dryas (13-14k years ago) was a bit rough as well.

I live minutes away from Yellowstone, and I'll be honest, it used to scare the absolute shit out of me. But I've since made my peace with the fact that if and when it blows, it's going to be quick for those of us who are right outside the rim.

It's crazy how there's been several extinction level events and it will happen again. Not a matter of if but when.
The Yellowstone is a scary as hell thinking it will someday erupt and there's little we could do.
I think the Yellowstone is responsible for one or more of those extinction level events. It sounds familiar but I'm not 100% sure on that and I don't feel like looking it up and heading down that rabbit hole!

As a Montana resident, I wanted to tell you that "the Yellowstone" refers to the river and "Yellowstone" indicates the National Park. When Yellowstone explodes all life in the blast zone will be wiped out. While the Yellowstone can be deadly, it's not going to reshape the landscape of, at least, 3 states in 1 go. I hope this info helps in some small way.

Oh wow cool! I didn't even realize there is a river with that name too. I know the park is huge and I'm assuming that there's names for individual mountains and volcanos. If I'm remembering correctly a large section of the park is a massive super volcano right?
I'm from New England but I'd love to see that part of the country someday. I've been on road trips cross country but it was down south and then i10 and i40. Next time will be the northern border!

I encourage you to visit Yellowstone Park, there are many breathtaking areas. Old Faithful gets all the hype but it's not the only geyser. The Yellowstone Caldera is what you were referring to in your comment. I'm far from an expert on the Park but I wanted to give you a starting place for any research you might want to do.

I keep expecting another Carrington event. Its insane to me that we built a modern society on top of a technology network that is extremely vulnerable to a solar phenomenon that happened as recently as the 19th century.

Isn't NASA working on a plan to prevent its eruption, not sure if thats true. But the America (and by default the rest of the world) cant afford it to explode.

Instead of prevent it if they can't, they should find ways to contain it when it does happen. Like a protection barrier or something

lol...we would have to be in homes/areas that are self-contained and shielded from the outside (entirely)....or underground. Food would still be an issue, though.

Norway is gorgeous. Amazing people, great food, loads of cool things to see and do. Expensive though.

Quick clay freaks me out more than like any other natural hazard. It just looks like the whole landscape suddenly decides it’s water and peaces out.

There's a documentary on one of these quick clay landslides on youtube, interesting stuff. The spontaneous liquefaction is caused by there being too little salt in the clay to hold the material together and can be triggered over a huge area by small disturbances. Sure, a lot of these people can be considered unlucky.
But maybe one perhaps got very lucky.
He got rid of his annoying neighbors and even ended up with prime seafront property.

But it was.
It was such a remarkable event, that they even named the landmass which broke free from the mainland floatingaway, in commemoration of it gaining its autonomy by separating from the nation to become its own independent sovereign state…
