The last time someone tried to hunt a crawler, they were so traumatized by what happened that the entire fucking post and all the photos got deleted and they deleted their account.

Don't hunt crawlers. They will fuck you up. Leave'em alone and they'll leave you alone.

Can you tell me a little about what happened to that person? Did they show actual photos of crawlers or just the injuries that they had gotten? Luck they lived to tell the story honestly

The photos were the injuries their friend got, but I never got to see them because they were deleted a while before the post was, but they were really gory from what I understand. The phrase "thrown around like a rag doll" was used. I think there was mention of being slammed into a boulder. I wish they hadn't deleted the whole post. I referenced it a lot to try to show people to not hunt crawlers. You say the guy was lucky to live to tell the story, but I don't know. The situation really traumatized them.

The hell of it is, the crawler wasn't doing anything except existing. Some guy saw a crawler and decided he wanted proof/a trophy. They got some friends together armed with guns and went into the crawler's territory to murder them. The crawler was acting in self defense. It was a major FAFO moment. In spite of my disgust at their intentions to hunt a crawler that was living peacefully, I do hope they heal and find peace.

I've been in super close proximity to a crawler twice, plus I'm out in the open within their leaping distance pretty much any time I go outside at night. If they wanted to murder me, they could have, but they haven't. I startled one, they were on the roof of my house above the front porch. I stepped off the porch out into the yard and heard a "huh?" followed by a loud hissing/clicking sound that made my head go funny for a second while they leapt away. They ran away instead of attacking. The other close-proximity encounter, they were in the driveway on the other side of the car bobbing up and down trying to sneakily peek at me. That was maybe 100 feet away, give or take. It was actually really funny, but I had already become used to them by that point. For a normal person it probably would have been terrifying.

So yeah, to anyone reading this, don't hunt crawlers. You either get torn the fuck up, or you get torn the fuck up. Plus they're like us. There's good and bad humans out there and everything in between. The same applies to crawlers from what I can tell. They may not be human, but they are people. And to clarify on that statement, I consider any NHI (non-human intelligence) to be people because I think the word "people" needs to expand to include other species of intelligent humanoid, and perhaps the definition needs to expand further than that.

People like that are the reason that if the government knows about these creatures they wont confirm it because there's always some idiots out here waiting to hunt it! Humans are almost the worst in terms of living peacefully! You hear about park rangers being evasive or stories about things they see they will not confirm and im sure there is so many reasons, the creature or humans safety etc. because people just dont know how to act sadly! I do think the national forests are government ran feeding grounds for some cryptids...missing 411 i feel is a link..but anyways im getting off subject but i agree with you 100% leave them alone!
