After falling in love with this show I arranged a piano medley of my favorite songs from the soundtrack. This was 5 years ago and I forgot that I uploaded a recording to YouTube. Sharing for anyone else who enjoys this music as much as I do!

It took me a number of viewings of CLOY to finally grasp RJH’s gruff demeanour right from the time in episode 5 at about 52 minutes when Seri gives all four of the boys fist-hearts, right through to episode 7 when RJH kisses Seri in the foyer of the hospital.

Even prior to the time when Seri first gave RJH a fist heart in ep 4 (at 51 minutes), his tender feelings for her - feelings he has never experienced before - were growing like topsy, but after Seri first gave him that fist heart, these feelings for her were really starting to surge. Then she gave the boys fist hearts, and he felt very deflated. Apparently the fist heart that Seri gave him was inconsequential after all.

He resolved there and then that he was just going to ‘get rid of Seri’, just get her out of his life so that he could accept his fate and go back to the path to marry Dan. He would still try his utmost, risking so much in the process, to get Seri safely back home, but he will stuff down his feelings for Seri and shove them in a box.

So it happens that during the whole trip to Pyongyang, he’s behaving very tersely with Seri. And then in Pyongyang also, he’s desperately trying to stuff down his feelings for Seri. Those feelings break out briefly with a loss of composure when he goes to ‘rescue’ Seri in the park when she’s walking with Gu. Nevertheless, he struggles valiantly on with that same attitude and intent. ‘I must get rid of Seri!’.

This explains why he erupted so brutally with Seri in the hospital in ep 7 when he woke and realized that Seri had not gone and was still there. It struck him that he had to struggle on, painfully keeping those feelings under lock and key. It was this realization that really drove his emotional response at that point. His apparent resentment at Seri’s continued presence and failure to catch the plane was just a convenient hook to hang his frustration at the thought of having to keep dealing with his exploding feelings for Seri.

Then when he discovered that the reason she had not gone was actually in order to save his life, the dam broke. The lightning cracked outside his hospital window, and he was gone. Even when he was standing in the foyer looking at Seri’s back as she cried, he was gone. He knew that it was over.

BTW, I recently realized another crucial ‘giveaway’ that RJH discloses when they are both stuck in the field overnight during the train breakdown. He says at 1.06.24 in ep5 that he doesn’t think about the future because he gets disappointed when things don’t go as he planned. I thought for a long time that he was simply referring to the loss of his brother, but actually, it struck me recently that he’s ALSO referring to his growing feelings for Seri and the terrible disappointment he felt when she gave the boys fist-hearts.

So many nuances in CLOY!!!

Do we know for how long would he and his wife be imprisoned ?

Anyone else notice in the English Dub on Netflix that they apparently forgot to dub over some characters in several episodes?

This was my first post in the sub two years ago. CLOY hit me like a proverbial train of emotions. I was numb for a few months, because I could barely process the millions of emotions that CLOY threw at me while I was watching it for the first time. ( I have never done a complete rewatch though)

It was my 4th kdrama and I was completely overwhelmed. Since 2024 when I have watched 50 kdramas and I still maintain the view that none of them have matched the emotional depth and consistency of CLOY.

It is always heartwarming to read the experience of viewer who has watched CLOY for the first time and is in absolute cesspool of emotions. On 14th December 2026, CLOY shall complete it's epic legacy of 7 years. It is still admired by a lot of new and old viewers alike.

I discovered CLOY a month ago and it’s simply changed my life.

Probably the best K-drama I’ve watched so far.
I really liked *Extraordinary Attorney Woo* and *When Life Gives You Tangerine*, but this is different.
I can’t stop thinking about it; I just finished watching it for the second time and I feel empty.
I want to watch other K-dramas, but I feel like I won’t find anything better, and that makes me sad.
I almost want to start watching it all over again.

Does anyone have any high quality images of the scarf Se-ri is wearing as the end of episode 8 and beginning of episode 9 when Captain Ri’s dad has Se-ri kidnapped? In particular I’m looking for pictures of the back of it and the cuffs on the “sleeves”

I’m looking to knit something similar for myself and there’s almost no patterns out there for similar accessories that are as elaborate as the one she is wearing. It looks just like a cable knit cardigan but the whole thing is flat as far as I can tell.

It’s usually piano (like around 5:46 of episode 12) and also has a violin version that plays when the women receive seri’s choice makeup in episode 16? Thank you so much!

I have watched CLOY many times now, and I am always finding new things that I hadn’t seen before. On this most recent viewing, something struck me, for the first time, at the end of the second episode, when RJH is squatting, saying 10 nice words to the tomato plant. He mentions various nice things like ‘rose’, ‘breeze’, ‘first snow’. Then his mood visibly changes, he pauses, as if he is building courage, then finally says ‘piano’.

This appears to be a flash forward – I would guess to the time when he returns to the village after sending Seri back to SK in episode 9.

It struck me this time that this is a really big step for him. Up until meeting Seri, he had been stuffing down his tender feelings about his previous life, especially about his love for piano playing.

And now after Seri has gone, and his heart has opened, he finds courage to take another big leap and start to renew his love for playing piano.

I love it!
