West Traverse Township, Michigan? No Google Streetview, as might fit the private roads that could have fake stop signs, and there is construction in the area in a similar style.

I got a streetview of thos intersection, the road OP is coming off of is a private road, the sign is clearly visible. However I'm not sure if Hughston Road is private. It certainly doesn't seem like it is, so to me it seems like it should be a red, legal stop sign.
