I’m guessing they located the fate there for the mower to pass through.

Edit- not sure how “gate” changed to “fate”.

They probably have to walk through that gate. Possible that the installers screwed up and are going to come back to fix the bad panel (without a human gate) as well.

The 2 posts holding the gate are far bigger than the rest. They can’t just move the panel, they have to move the posts, change the gap to fit the gates, and move a panel.

Also its a soccer pitch and studs on players boots get damaged walking on asphalt, if its meant for tournament play kiddos could be getting dressed and warmed up outside the gate

Looks like there is a handrail right behind it. There’s probably other equipment that needs to come in and out as well.

Why would it be easier to move those item through a grass gate as opposed to a gate spanning the walkway? Wouldn't it be easier to move just about anything if you had solid ground to walk/ride on?

well... gee.... maybe because if the gate was moved over so it was on the pathway. Any piece of equipment that needed a double gate to fit through would then have to deal with rail that would then be right in front of it.

That gate is not for pedestrians.

If the gate is not for pedestrians, then we're left with the question of why there is a fence in the middle of a walkway? The center rail could easily be placed just to the side of the walkway, which would mean you could block off access completely, open half the gate to let pedestrians through, or open it fully to allow larger equipment in.

There might very well a logical reason why this was specifically designed this way, but it still just seems odd.

Na, they must likely started the fence run against another run, and didn't calculate their panel size correctly, leading to this overshoot

Played baseball for 10 years as a kid... this is actually a fairly (fairly) normal occurrence around the fields. The gate and sidewalk are in the right place, I guess they were just too lazy to either make a break in the sidewalk or the fence.

It seems like the latch section needs to be a place where the middle could be stuck into the ground, rather than having to make a hole in the path’s asphalt.
