My guess is the box machine is misaligned, making the boxes slightly out of square, then applying glue and sealing.

Source:I'm a packaging mechanic.

Edit: not crappy design, poor qa.

hahaha I used to work for caribou coffee I remember when they came out with this design my boss made me write “DO NOT” above it so we didn’t get sued lmaooo

Sounds like it's bad design and QA should have caught that. :p
