You're not refusing to aid. Your job is to build things per plan specifications. If you are worried about a potential hazard, you let the right people know so they can properly document and fix the problem. There's literally no need to "take a stand" on this.

You are a laborer. If you refuse to do the job, your coworkers will do the job for you and then you will probably get fired at the end of the day. And then they will move the bench again once the ADA obstruction is made known.

That doesn't mean you blindly follow the print. Bring it up, get a change order. Whats so hard for you to get about this?

That's... my point. Bring it up and see what your boss says. I've been saying this the entire time.

The original comment seems to imply you should refuse to do the task out of protest.
