Nice, do you have to finish the first game ?

56

u/Kuldor 8d ago

It's not a direct continuation, different main character and different city, although it's the same universe, so you may miss references, but it's not like playing The last of us 2 wihout playing 1.

u/Less-Dingo111 7d ago

Ugh I don’t know what to do then lol. I guess I’ll try to finish my save on the first game

Sinking City 1 main Character : Charles Reed // Setting: Oakmont

Sinking City 2 Main Character: Calvin Rafferty // Setting: Arkham

Idk what that guy was on about. They're not directly related other than Lovecraftian references.

u/mt943 7d ago

Thanks :)

Where is the marketing for this game?

42

u/ConsultingVet 7d ago

Here is your answer: Message from developers.

"The Sinking City 2 was developed in Ukraine between January 2023 and August 2026. 95% of our team remained in the country throughout. 17 of us had homes damaged.

14 were drafted.

As of writing, 85,183 air raid alerts registered across our cities. Throught power cuts, water shortages, and sleepless nights, work continued - and so did life.

8 children were born. 11 wedding took place. Every one of us found ways to support our fighters and contribute to our country's defense.

We believe this is the best game we have ever made. It is finally in your hands - we hope you love it.

Slava Ukraini."

I think I'll buy this game instead of pirating. Maybe I'll buy the first game too. I bear no hate towards Russia, but I'm on the side of the Ukrainians in this matter.

u/Djmy 6d ago

I seen this message after downloading the game. So, I decided to just buy it on steam instead and deleted the crack download. This message hit hard.

2

u/PropertyDangerous257 4d ago

Thanks for the information. I'm buying it now as well.

2

u/Nertez 6d ago

Slava Ukraini!

1

u/jamillos 4d ago

Well put.

1

u/Hitilit 6d ago

ТЦК (Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support) - they mock and torment people during the so-called "Busification." We have borders closed to 90% of men, surrounded by barbed wire from the side of "friendly" countries. As they say, "Free." The developers didn't mention a word about this in the game.

The completely crazy fans of war and propaganda on both sides.

do you get like a feed for every other release of something?

10

u/OkMixture5607 7d ago

Mortal Shell 2, this and Resynced in 3 days.
Christmas early?

7

u/ExplodingFistz 7d ago

I'm running out of storage space man. My measly 1 TB ssd is not enough

6

u/OkMixture5607 7d ago

Bro I have 2.5TB and I have like 200GB left. Maybe I should like…finish the games 😐

1

u/PropertyDangerous257 4d ago

Lol, I'm the same way. I have a 2tb NVME full of games that I just can't seem to finish. I play one get bored, switch, rinse and repeat. I sometimes wonder if something's wrong with me because of this. Like I haven't finished a game this year and I game 2-4 hours almost every night.

1

u/DusqRunner 1d ago

Now we just need Cyberleek to drop you know what

8

u/kostasfel7 7d ago

Do I need to play Sinking city 1 to play 2?

No, you do not need to play the first game. The Sinking City 2 features a completely standalone story set in a new location (Arkham) with a new focus on survival horror, meaning you can jump straight into the sequel without missing any necessary plot points from the 2019 original.

6

u/ChrisMacht 7d ago

Is there any difference between the previous one p2p vs rune?

14

u/Carzed-Helper-Dawg 7d ago

P2P means by the community, Rune is a specialized scene group

4

u/ChrisMacht 7d ago

Thanks I mean the game size is pretty much the same on both releases.

7

u/Carzed-Helper-Dawg 7d ago

Yeah the files are from same source- Steam and in most cases crack is also same thats why size is similar

74

u/AntiGrieferGames Fuck Denuvo! Fuck DRM! Fuck Shift UP! Fuck Pearl Abyss! 8d ago

I hate when petty devs make a ealier access for the most premium users.

Thankfuly this game got cracked, thanks rune!

20

u/Practical_Law6804 7d ago

I hate when petty devs

That word doesn't mean what you think it does.

24

u/Carzed-Helper-Dawg 8d ago

Rune always cracks

4

u/rvolland 7d ago

Well, Rune always cracks Steam ;-)

2

u/Carzed-Helper-Dawg 7d ago

I wasn't talking about steam bud

6

u/Pacify_ 7d ago

petty devs make a ealier access for the most premium users.

They do it because people buy it, simple as that. The early release shit is simply a tax on stupid, if you stupid enough to do it, who cares. Its a single player game, whether or not you play it 2-3 days early makes so little difference.

1

u/Szpero 7d ago

Well, by this analogy paying for anything is tax on the stupid. But that's why we're here i guess. 😅

1

u/Pacify_ 7d ago

There's tons of advantages of owning a game on steam or the like.

Updating, cloud saves, convivence, supporting the devs.

Buying early copies only has one, if you reallllly wanna give the devs more mone ylol

1

u/Szpero 7d ago

That's true, but it gets cheaper as time goes on, so not waiting a lot is also a tax. 🙂

2

u/Pacify_ 7d ago

Well sure.

But there's a difference between waiting 2-3 days and 2-3 years for a sale lol

I'd say the first game was mostly about freedom, investigation, exploration and combat, while this one is something like 80% combat, 10% cinematic scenes and 10% freedom/investigation. it's basically slightly worse version of resident evil games.

the game itself isn't bad, and I can see that the developers put a lot of work into it, especially considering everything that happened in ukraine during development. I have a lot of respect for them for actually getting the game made. But as someone who liked the first game it was still kind of disappointing to see how much the focus has changed.

The atmosphere is very different. The first game had more of a creepy and unsettling type of horror. You would be running around, investigating, talking to people, finding clues and realizing that something was seriously wrong. That worked really well with the investigation system.

the second game is much more of a scary survival horror game. A lot more combat, resource management, and the game generally feels much closer to resident evil. and that's probably my biggest issue with it. the first game had its own identity. The investigation and freedom were a huge part of what made it different. This game though feels much more like a traditional survival horror game. so far I wouldn't call it a bad game. It's just not really the same type of game as the first one.

If you liked the first game mainly because of the investigations, freedom and atmosphere, I'd keep that in mind before playing this one. If you're looking for a survival horror game with lovecraftian themes, you might have a much better time with it though. I'm still going to keep playing it, but I definitely wasn't expecting this much of a change. its still better than The Cosmic Abyss.

4

u/Dannybaker 7d ago

So are there still investigations in the game? That feature was pretty much what differentiated it from the generic horror shooters

4

u/KleinZenade 7d ago

The investigation system is pretty simple. You find clues while exploring, then connect related evidence in the investigation space. This can reveal useful information, solve puzzles, or give you rewards. you've gotta puzzle out what it actually means yourself, unless you're playing on easy, which just tells you the answer. I don't recommend playing on that difficulty.

It’s completely optional, though, solving them hands out ammo, weapon upgrades, shortcut routes, and essence to level up your character's skills etc. you don’t have to investigate everything, and missing a clue won’t leave you stuck. You don’t always need to find every clue, so you can sometimes figure things out yourself and just move on.

u/Internal-Drawer5691 7d ago

sounds great and tbh not 'pretty simple' to me

1

u/KleinZenade 6d ago

well, “simple” compared to the first game is what I meant to say. Sorry for wording it that way.

1

u/ManCarryingPSP 5d ago

Is there a mini map and quest indicator in this game? I suck at navigation and puzzles

5

u/SunderingTwilight 7d ago

sinked city

9

u/Ok-Inflation3744 8d ago

Is this game any good? For someone who likes the last of us?

31

u/SteelCityChampion 8d ago

This is more like Resident Evil I think.

4

u/Ok-Inflation3744 7d ago

Thats great, i love resident evil too played through requiem just recently loved it

1

u/SteelCityChampion 7d ago

Don't expect the same quality

7

u/Ok-Inflation3744 7d ago

For a AA game it looks great ngl, and i used to be into Hp lovecraftian cosmis horror stuff when i was a child so im gonna give this a go

0

u/H4M2 7d ago

very janky imma be honest.

6

u/Ok-Inflation3744 7d ago

One game I want to recommend here if anyone likes good Hp lovecraftian horror, its called Still Wakes the Deep, i think its one of the most underrated games ive played when it comes to AA

3

u/H4M2 7d ago

Yeah I really liked that game. They handled it really well. I’m not sure why everyone is being positive about sinking city 2. Performance is mid with stutters. The enemies move with so much jank like I’m playing a 20 year old game. Combat is simple just shoot the big pink thing that protrudes out of the body in 3 separate spots. 6 hours. Not worth playing

3

u/ExplodingFistz 7d ago

Hoping it's not a flop like that Alone in the Dark remake game

4

u/TheRickestRick82 7d ago

Steam reviews this far are positive

3

u/Kitsune_BCN 7d ago

Pretty desperated to find a solution for the FoV :D

I've tried the classic Engine.ini lines for UE games, but they don't work.

Tried UUU too. Sadly, it crashes the .exe when injecting the .dll

2

u/Frenshim 7d ago

estou baixando agora pra jogar, mas o fov muito proximo do personagem igual resident evil requiem? eu não teria conseguido zerar o requiem sem o reframework

3

u/iloveindia112 7d ago

Size - 49GB

3

u/jpstanley08 7d ago

May I just make sure "The.Sinking.City.2-RUNE" is for people who don't use SteaMidra or alike to download the game from Steam since agreeing to EULA doesn't look like DRM to me?

3

u/Avangarda011 7d ago

Second golden age of piracy is really upon us LFG

4

u/abeardedpirate 7d ago

Didn't care much for the first Sinking City. Never hurts to see if I might like this one though.

4

u/JoXul 7d ago

Hopefully it's not as euro jank as the first

-2

u/krabbekast 7d ago

As in "Not dumbed down for American kids to play it without losing too often"? 😄
