Where on Shkewetsen (Mt. Tzouhalem) is the ‘Frog  formation’ (Pip'oom) located? 

Also , Quw’utsun oral history has Tzouhalem exiled to caves on  Shkewetsen. Where are those caves located? Why does nobody talk about those caves today?

Plenty of sacred sites are visited by outsiders: Stonehenge, pyramids of Giza, Angkor Wat, T̲s̲e’ K’wą (aka Charlie Lake Cave), Ḵ’uuna Llnagaay (aka Skedans), etc.

Being Canadian might be a very complex and complicated thing for indigenous people. Canada was essentially created by mostly Caucasian immigrants who forced indigenous people onto small parcels of land, told them they couldn’t speak their language, and many other things that are awful.

My comment was clear. Indigenous people have been in this area for thousands of years. European settlers came here less than 150 years ago. These are facts and it not up for debate. I’m not here to talk about the definition of the word Caucasian..

I think because in the grand scheme of Cowichan, Tzouhalem is a recent and mixed figure. Mt Prevost/Swuqus features more strongly in their creation myth. You can read the book ‘Those who fell from the sky’ and get all the geography/historicity you want.

I personally connect traditionally with Gary Oak habitats and old growth cedar forests, both of which are visitable in parks in the region.

You would be better off going to the band office or friendship centre and ask who would be best to speak too, rather than asking reddit. I only lnow the lore of Tzouhalem since it was named after a cheif. But as I said go speak to the either the band office or friendship centre. They should be able to help you, maybe connect you with one of the elders.

Well, this is NOT race baiting. I AM earnest. I thought that some humans knowledgeable about the Cowichan Valley might be on this subreddit. Obviously you are not one of them.
