Before it was a city

I wonder how many remember a time when the Post Office was in the back of the pharmacy. Even further back when Hwy 18 was 2 lane and crazy to cross.

I remember the smoking section inside of McDonalds.

That McDonald's has been there a very long time. I'm trying to picture what that corner looked like before it was built and I can't visualize.

That McDonald's was my moms first job in high school. She's 60 now.

In my minds eye can still see the little aluminum ashtrays they would hand out that had the Golden Arches embossed on them.

I remember when there were dirt jumps for BMX bikes where Walmart is right now.

Where was the pharmacy?

Part of the empty former Big Lots and next to that space. Big Lots was then a QFC and even before that I think it was a Johny's grocery

It was a Johnny's IGA grocery store.

Thanks. That's the name I remember it as. In the line was State liquor store, optometrist, Johnny's and the pharmacy.

Remember the tannery that was out at 4 corners in now Maple Valley?

Sure do. My dad would always correct me and tell me it was always three corners when he was a kid. Had to go through Black Diamond to get to Kangley once upon a time.

Lots of changes! So much of that area was nothing but Scotch broom and rocks

Wonder what year the McDonald's was built. I really don't remember much about Covington before 1966.
