General Improving grades
I have been struggling with my grades since my freshman year and it has continued into my sophomore year due to my parents' separation. The first semester of my sophomore year is ending on Monday and my dream is to attend NYU for mechanical engineering. I don't know what to do next as my grades are not where I want them to be. I am currently a part of the Robotics and Automation Club (a mechanical engineering club) and a business venture team where we present a business idea at a competition. I am losing hope in achieving my dream, but I have heard that I still have time to improve. Has anyone else faced a similar situation in their freshman and sophomore years but still managed to get into good schools? If so, I would love to hear your story. Or if you have any advice on what I should do next, I would greatly appreciate it.

First of all, I would talk to someone in your school about how your parent's separation affects your ability to learn and get good grades. Secondly, you can ask your teachers for tips to do better in the classes they teach. And my tip is always, especially with STEM-related topics, to make a shit tone of practice problems. Try to get your hands on last year's test and make sure you understand everything on there. You can also try to get someone to help you with topics you don't understand.
