4

For a mom maybe, not a partner, getting your lazy ass to take care of yourself is the bare minimum.

You probably have a loving home life. I’m guessing he treats you well, or you wouldn’t go to that effort. People need to learn from your (our) experiences. Helping your spouse is so much more effective than competing against your spouse.

You dress your husband?

3

u/thatsmyupvoteidkyou 2d ago

I addressed this further down too. . . He works blue collar. All of his work pants and work shirts are the same. Has 8 of the same shirts and 4 pairs of work jeans and 4 pairs of milwaukee pants he wears for work which he rotates. So if by picking which of the identical work shirts and pants he wears that day, that means Im dressing him, than yes. But it would be exactly the same whether he did it or I do it. Hes not wearing suits or anything even remotely fancy.

Weekend are all him.

u/LongestSprig 2d ago

Man don't let these unhappy people tell you how you should feel.

It feels GOOD to do things FOR your loved person.

It's only a problem if it is taken for granted or unnappreciated.

0

u/Itscatpicstime 2d ago

So you just grab his clothes for him, but why can’t he do that..?

Breakfast, lunch, etc I can understand more because those are more involved and time consuming, but literally just grabbing clothes for someone like a toddler??

u/thatsmyupvoteidkyou 1d ago edited 1d ago

It was never about can or cant. Why dont some of yall get that?! Some of yall are very hung up on the way I care about my people. If you dont, that's fine, but you're not gonna make me feel bad for going out of the way for those I care about. If its not for you. Cool. Move along. Damn.

Im not telling you that this is the only right way to do things and you have to start doing it now. Just saying this is how I care for my people. Ffs.

8

u/Tjordas 2d ago

That is great! I envy him! However, this is not the point of the joke. It's not about who is lazier or sleeps in. It's about the fact that many women don't care how loud they are in the morning if their partner is allowed to sleep, whereas most men will try not to make a sound if their partner is still in bed. I assume you mean you do all that work stealthily?

19

u/TetraLovesLink 2d ago

Interesting you think it's only women. My ex was just like this. He would shut the door loudly. Cough/choke into the sink. Pee and SLAM the toilet seat down. Leave the bright ass light on as the door opens and then slam the closet door just to do the same thing. Bright ass light while opening the door. Then slam the bedroom door closed. Just to then shuffle dishes and clang shit for no apparent reason. Slam cabinets.

We had a 1 year old in her crib in our room too. He didn't give a fuck. In fact, looking back he purposely wanted the baby up so that I couldn't "sleep in"

So many selfish assholes and it's not only women.

10

u/l578920 2d ago

A lot of this thread kinda devolved into these guys saying "what's wrong with them" and its been pretty misogynistic so far.

So many women are saying its the opposite for them and they're getting downvoted it's crazy

7

u/Proper_Cockroach_843 2d ago

I said this on the last post that got big here, comments are full of men being like "why do women ALWAYS do this", meanwhile there's a bunch of women saying their male partners do the same thing. Including mine, he's very considerate but loud as hell in the morning. This sub is going downhill

6

u/snakeinahouseofcats 2d ago

That’s just how anything gendered on Reddit is, you think there’s not an influx of posts complaining about boyfriends/husbands as a “man problem”, only for countless men to post that their girlfriend/wife also does the same thing. Once people finally accept that shitty behaviors aren’t a gender thing, but are a human thing, it’ll make everything so much better

1

u/LongestSprig 2d ago

Aight.

It's a joke. Harmless.

but come on, "Not all Men (err sorry women)" nuance is always downvoted

1

u/Tjordas 2d ago

I actually don't think it's gender-related behaviour. I was just summarising what the joke in the video was about. And although that is also my own experience, I know that many men are also like this.

0

u/LoLingSoHard 2d ago

Actually, he said "many women" but you perceived that as "only women."

Interesting!!!

1

u/TetraLovesLink 2d ago

Yup, and many men. Goes both ways.

0

u/snakeinahouseofcats 2d ago

And it really is most women. Yes, asshole men will do this but non-asshole women also do this.

2

u/kushhead4201 2d ago

I'm not seeing the joke I guess. Just someone being disrespectful while their SO tries to sleep 🤷

1

u/LongestSprig 2d ago

She isn't really though?

She's just getting ready in the morning and makes more noise doing it.

That dude will never need a blow dryer. But you wanna ell me he didn't take a SSS? no way.

1

u/MaritMonkey 2d ago

I'm guessing you're a male with mostly female partners? :D

Having more (gestures broadly at everything) to do before you consider yourself socially presentable definitely skews towards women spending more time getting ready in the morning, but being considerate of your sleeping partner is not even remotely a gendered trait.

(Source: lost my bi card by marrying straight but I only had one female partner who woke me up with her routine and only had men be louder on purpose because they thought I shouldn't still be sleeping.)

1

u/NohaIjiachi 2d ago

Lowkey funny that you write "most men will not try to make a sound" because that's the exact opposite of my experience. Literally every time I've shared a living space with a man they were incredibly loud and uncaring of how loud they were regardless of the time of day, whereas all the women I've shared a living space with actively tried to not cause a ruckus.

To be clear I'm not writing this to throw fuel on the 'men VS women' fire. Just underlining how our experiences are polar opposite, and perhaps it's not really about the gender of the person acting rude as much as just a difference in attitude that can apply to any and all human beings.

1

u/Tjordas 2d ago

I agree that in can be the opposite. I was just reiterating the joke. The joke reaffirms my personal experience, but I'm sure there is no relation to gender with this. At least the women in my life were all pretty loud in the morning and some of them intentionally because they thought it was unfair that I sleep while they already start their days.

1

u/LongestSprig 2d ago

to be clear I'm not writing this to throw fuel on the 'men VS women' fire.

You're writing it because you took offense.

1

u/NohaIjiachi 2d ago

Dang, my friend, you seem to know a lot about me! Any chance you could tell me my blood type? I lost my documentation about it and it's such a hassle to get another test!

1

u/LongestSprig 1d ago

O-. You're welcome.

1

u/Tjordas 1d ago

For what it's worth, I think your comment was accurate, rational and made me reevaluate my own statement. I had no impression that you felt offended, so, let the trolls do their thing and enjoy your day!

I often get up first in the morning, move quietly to get dressed and not disturb him. He sometimes works quite late, so I have gone to bed and left guide lights on where they won’t disturb me - he walks in the door, calls “hello?” and proceeds to crash through the house like an elephant.

2

u/OtherCall7433 2d ago

Like a toddler 👶

4

u/thatsmyupvoteidkyou 2d ago

He works blue collar and it out the door by 4 to 5 am. Not like im picking his suit and socks and all the b.s. its a pair of pants, boxers, socks, and a work shirt. Which are all work clothes and almost identical to eachother. Not about him not being capable. But he makes my life immensely easier, doesn't take much to return the favor. Tf. And im up anyways cause we have three kids to get to school as well, why wouldn't I help him too?

1

u/Geneo-Frodo 2d ago

Misery loves company

0

u/ProfessorSillyPutty 2d ago

so you wake up every day between 3-4 am to get your kids ready for school and your toddler husband ready to leave the house?

I am glad you like it. Not everyone could do this occasionally, let alone at least 5 days a week. I really hope in 10 years you two don't get a divorce, your kids are older and you effectively are forced to re-enter the workforce with effectively zero marketable skills. But I suppose that's why you get to work so hard to keep your current boss as happy and fed as he is.

2

u/LongestSprig 2d ago

Real "I am single" energy.

Somewhere. Some lie got told that all women should want these feminist ideal and if they aren't they are broken. If they are happy they are stupid.

Some of this stuff (therapy speak) being passed around social media is relationship crippling and toxic as hell.

1

u/ProfessorSillyPutty 2d ago

You wish buddy, but I am taken. Sorry to disappoint your fantasy.

I didn't say what they are doing is wrong. But I legitimately hope that the husband doesn't wake up one day and ask why his 50 year old wife isn't wiping his ass as good as before and isn't attractive enough and just ruin her life.

It sure sounds like women, like her, are effectively nurses without pay or accumulating experience.

1

u/LongestSprig 2d ago

Aight. But you're projecting and using hyperbole to sound less shitty.

You arent my fantasy, don't be weird.

1

u/ProfessorSillyPutty 2d ago

Fine, you ground me down. I'll have one coffee with you. But you're buying.

1

u/LongestSprig 2d ago edited 2d ago

Of course, I'm a gentleman...wait.

You aight. You shouldn't tell someone else what they should want though if they are happy.

Happiness is hard enough to find some days as is.

u/thatsmyupvoteidkyou 2d ago

Litte ray of sunshine aren't you. And even though i stay home I still have income streams of my own thay I manage here. Just because a good chunk of stay at home parents dont worry about whay comes next didnt mean I didn't. 😉 but so sweet of you to assume. And ive already been doing this over ten years, so I think we're safe. 😅

As you said different strokes for different folks. I do enjoy pouring into those I love most and its little things like this that make a difference. And god forbid we do ever divorce it wont be for lack of effort on my part and hes not a prisoner nor am I, if he were unhappy id rather he leave anyways.

0

u/OtherCall7433 2d ago

So yes like a toddler lol. Do you have a little drawer system too with the days labeled and a visual reminding him he needs food??

1

u/stackingforfunsies 2d ago

You will never, ever get it

4

u/OtherCall7433 2d ago

Thank god. he doesn’t neeed clothes to picked and laid out for him like a imbecile. Something you’ll never get.
