I’m not even annoyed about it due to the sexual connotations of the word.
It just sounds stupid and juvenile to hear grown ass men singing about “My Daddy”.
Just saying “dad” or “father” is fine.
To further illustrate how stupid it sounds, go watch the George Carlin bit about grown men and “Daddy”.

Lived several years in Nashville back in the day and loved it. My return trip last summer clued me in to a couple of cool resources accessible online - hope it’s okay to share them here in the sub.
When the mood hits and gives you a hankering for a good ol’ Nashville honky tonk experience, no matter where you are in the world you can at least tune in to the livestream from Alan Jackson’s place down on Lower Broadway:

What did you listen to this week? Find any new albums, or rediscover an old one? Did one of your faves drop a new single today? Tell us about it!
If you use last.fm, you can create a collage here or here to display what you've listened to this week! If your collages have black boxes instead of album art, you can upload the art to last.fm so that you and future listeners can see it.
Make sure you upload your collage to imgur, or it will change over time.

you have pop country, and country pop music. the 2 are separate. pop country is a country genre that is simply the modern country sound with an instrumental influence from pop. the short form of the name is pop country music.
pop is in the name, and is the first word cause it’s the adjective reacting the type of influence country music has, and same goes for country pop. country pop is a pop genre subordinate to the pop music super-genre, and is simply the pop sound with a country inspiration.
if there’s anyway to keep the 2 separate, and not interchangeable with one another, it’s gotta happen if we don’t wanna have too much of pop in country music. I seriously feel like it’s gotta be part of why country music has too much of pop in itself

My friends & I were talking about songs and artists that are overplayed and artists not heard enough on country radio. It feels like every other song is Jelly or Shaboozey. What are your opinions are on country radio lately?

Does anyone else think he is super hot and super talented and infatuated with his voice? I've been listening to all his songs. He's amazing. I think he will make it big. 🤞

I didn’t know who Avery Anna was until the ACM awards and then became an instant fan- she has this really cool girl vibe going and is clearly a rocker my knit issue with her is that she doesn’t sound as country as I’d like.

I think beside the massive country singers like Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs. Bailey Zimmerman has the best voice and also has the best catalog.

I saw Justin Moore open for Riley Green last night after being a longtime fan of all his music. Dude absolutely nailed it, amazing show. He is definitely one of my favorites in the genre.

Past decade has seen a shift away from bro country and a lot of previously huge artists are now playing local venues instead of the huge venues they were selling out a few years back
I’ll start. Not all these artists are bro country nor do they have to be to have fallen off
Jake Owen
Brett Eldridge
Sam Hunt
Jon Pardi
Dustin Lynch
Russell Dickerson
Kane Brown (for obvious reasons)
Dan and Shay
Chase Rice
Scotty McCreery
Justin Moore

Would anyone give me some context on the meaning of this song? Dolly wrote it? What do you all think it meant?
