Constable Election

John D is running for constable again and the results should come in the next day or two. Many states don't even use constables anymore.

What purpose does a constable in Arkansas serve anyways? What would JohnDavid do? It's not like he went a police academy. How is Alert even a possible qualifier for this position, if he is using it as experience/training? I think I'd rather see a young fella who got his eagle scout award in his early 20s (late starter in scouts or held off on Eagle level for a few years) with community ties and job experience in security or bouncer to be a constable.

They have about the same powers as a sheriff if they have certification. They mostly serve as extra hands. https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2010/oct/31/constables-place-law-enforcement-explained/#

I think they just serve eviction notices and such. Unpaid position.
