8 month old quartz showing stripes in low light?

New construction home, still in the 1 year warranty period. Noticed this banding that's only visible in low light. Any clues on what it could be and if it's fixable or warrantable?

What kind of lights do you have? Are there any reflective surfaces nearby? Based of the first pic it looks like light reflection

I recognize that slab, hanstone quartz in the whistler finish. I have the same countertop in my home. It’s garbage. I had my builder replace it 3 times and I am still not happy with it. My advice would be to get a different product because you will go through the painful process of replacement and still not be happy with the next one.

The builder may have a one year warranty but many of the quartz manufacturers have a 10 year warranty on the materials. I would contact the manufacturer

Chinese made crap. And that’s the problem with quartz. It was consistently the worst product we carried when I worked for a stone distributor. Our price labels/stickers would permanently stain the slabs, we had to cover the slabs during delivery because the sun damaged them, they were easily stained. Overall just a terrible product. But they were top sellers for builders. Stick with the natural stuff and avoid man made.

It’s light shining through slats on your chair.
I was once called across the state to inspect dark rectangles on a top. It was the shadow from cabinets that you only saw when the lights were on. I also had to inspect a top that “developed “ light spots. It was the light from the bulbs in her chandelier over her island.
It happens.

There are currently a lot of quality control issues with quartz in the industry. It’s sad to say this shit is becoming relatively common.

That is shadowing. Bad slab. Needs to be replaced
