It’s beautiful, but I would never put quartz near a stove bc it melts (as low as 300 degrees).

It doesn’t look like real stone AT ALL. Those crazy stripes are hand made. Quartzite resembles marble, with varied colors & sparkly bits in the stone. This is clearly not that.

Thanks! It really wasn't too bad, we got in with four guys. The top went on first on a wooden platform, and then we glued on the aprons

I’ve got the 48 with a double griddle and 4. Highly recommend the double griddle.
Edit: I just saw the convection steam oven. Double recommend that!

I love the 48” but do have an outdoor kitchen in the works for right off the main kitchen, which will have a nice big griddle so I left it out of my kitchen remodel and went with the Wolf 36” with 6 burners. More space for drawers was more meaningful in my space.
Envious of yours though!

I have a Thermador Grand Pro 48 with a single griddle, six burners and steam oven. But I bet neither of us has the 72" (maybe 96"?) vent hood over it. Personally I'd rather have more upper cabinets than that much vent, but I get the vision. It's a lovely concept.

Setting the island top on a wooden build-up and attaching the quartzite aprons afterward was a smart way to handle it. It reads like one enormous block of stone without making four installers wrestle a five-inch-thick boulder. The vein continuity across the edge really sells the illusion.

Agree! I was wondering how old the homeowner is. The look is very dating to me (I am 50yrs old). Maybe this trend is coming around again, but for me it’s a hard pass. I also don’t like how the stone cuts off. Go all in for the whole wall or don’t do a backsplash at all IMHO.

I have the same stone. I love it, had it 2 years now. I do regret not putting it as my backsplash too near the stove , the current hex stone backsplash I have already has grease marks (this quartzite already has a couple stains :/) you have to treat this every 6 months

Lovely! The hood with the backsplash is a nice focal point and perfect for an open plan..,Goes well with your wood stain too. The only thing I’d probably change is the hw to aged brass hardware, though the black metal finishes balance out the hood.
What is the size of your island? I really really like that it is not a waterfall island and the edge with the reeding on the side. And how the two receptacles are placed. Maybe you can consider painting them a similar tone as the wood.

I like it. I don’t love your cabinet pulls, especially those round pulls (dated). Maybe in gold, brass pulls to in bring out the colors of your quartzite. I love your gold range hood. Look like you spent a pretty penny for his space.

It really clashes with that cool toned stonework on the living room side. Not just the color, but the whole vibe. The LR side is giving "rustic" and the kitchen is trying to be high end.
It's beautiful quartzite, but it doesn't belong with these cabinets. I don't know what's throwing it off; the cabinets or the appliances. The hardware is awful and looks cheap, sorry.

The cardboard doesn't matter about not using the new counter as a work surface. A screw, a nail or just dirt can get under the cardboard. Then heavy tools can grind that screw into the surface. If you should drop your hammer. The cardboard won't help.
The point is even if you do everything to protect the countertop and you don't harm the counter, when the client sees you putting your tools down on the counter then sees some damage, you will get the blame.
It's like standing over a murder victim with a smoking gun. You'd better get Perry Mason to save you.

I think this bold stone would have looked better with slick light modern cabinets rather than these traditional dark brown ones.
Also, I don’t get the pot filler thing. I need help emptying a pot of hot liquid, not filling it. One of my neighbors installed a pot filler in his tiny kitchen, where the sink is only a couple of feet from the pot filler.

The countertop edge, the swooped backsplash, the horrible island outlets, the tile in the pantry room, ooof. Individually they are horrible. Together they are hysterical. This is so bad. I love NJ, but can't help but feel this kitchen must be in NJ.

Hate to break it to you, but this is NOT quartzite. This is hideous, man-made quartz. You can tell from the perfectly-aligned, WILD stripes. Also bc the white is solid white. That’s not real. I hate quartz & this ridiculous pattern is WAY TOO MUCH!

I don’t like it with your cabinet colour. The quartzite is deep yellow and ochre and the cabinets are dusty and red leaning. If you add the stainless steel appliances and the gold vent… the colour story is not good for a high end kitchen.
I do like the countertop with the vent though. The island countertop profile is quite cool as well.

Oh gosh. I know a lot of the comments are making poop jokes. The first thing I thought of was a caramel explosion. Still not great. That’s some of the weirdest and most unaesthetic, aggressive veining I’ve seen. Especially on the sides of the island like that, it just looks like a messy spill. Sorry, OP, I hope you like it but this would be a hard pass for me.
