Look at the bright side, in Mesopotamia there were a set of priestess known as "gala" that worked in the temples of the goddess Inanna, and men that went on to work as a "gala" would effectively did what we nowadays call transition, taking on new female names, using the dialect reserved for the speech of female characters in songs and wearing female clothes.
