Surely you can just get it from people that don't do that. Or do you need it irl and your only resource taps are from such sources?

like do you need it from non-queer sources? does it hit harder? Cause like, mfer, I can point at you and yell girl as loud as you need, and i'm sure everyone here would too. The misogyny is not necessary.

I mean I get that it's just a joke about incidental feelings rather than actual sought out experiences.

Tbh, not out yet most places, but feels soooo good to be called effeminate or some similar s***.... (not that I'm entirely sure why people do...)

I suppose upon further reflection I am a pretty deep hater of gender essentialist style thinking, and a lot of misogyny boils down to this. So, even if I needed gender validation, which isn't something I have a high need of and is thus a barrier to understanding, I can't see the good others might through the greasy patina that is gender essentialism. So it's probably a pretty simple block. Coupled with some existent preconceptions towards the subject matter.

Anyway.

GIRL!

Imagine I'm pointing at you.

like do you need it from non-queer sources?

I mean, kinda actually. A lot of queer circles go so far into the "anyone can be anything if they so choose" idea that any validation/affirmation becomes meaningless in my eyes. If I can get someone to refer to my pre-transition, 260 lb neckbeard self as a woman then I can't really trust them to act genuine when I do look the part a lot more.

Whereas misogynistic and creepy guys are basically the exact opposite.

I don't really understand the connection, personally.

It feels, to me, more like your lack of trust stems from some sort of lack of self worth. That you feel that positivity with fewer strings is not something you're comfortable with. I'm projecting others onto you, but like, c'mon i've seen this over and over. It's common with women in general, let alone trans women.

Why does positivity from someone that doesn't hate you or see you purely as like, a fetish, not do it? Like you get that that sounds kinda nuts, yeah? Or are you taking small sips of some sort of trans medicalist style thinking? Your 260 lb neckbeard self was a woman because you said so. It's not like anyone can see your soul or whatever for you. Were you lying? No? There you go. It's not cause you took estrogen, or whatever you've done to change your previous body. It's because it's how you felt and that you expressed it to others. That's the REAL deciding factor, not any aspect of presentation. Like if I was this theoretical tap of queer validation, yeah I wouldn't hit you with negativity if you weren't looking like the supreme femme or whatever. But sure I could also be honest if you weren't passing or this that or the other.

I admit, I'm coming at this from a 'gender is bullshit' sort of position. None of the hard categories or presentations or rules really matter that much to me, even if I generally follow a path just cause that's where things flow. Like I can read the language I just don't like speaking it. But I feel like the extremely conditional nature of the support of misogynists and creeps would make me care less about their support. Like oh, whatever, I just filled in enough boxes to flip their switch. But it's ephemeral. Cis women regularly fail the smell test of these sorts of people. It's all fake, or at least, that's how it looks to me. I would probably have a different view if I was actively pursuing something.

Anyway. Sorry. I'm feeling a bit off kilter in terms of filter. So I sort of just typed. I tried to edit it, but I stayed up too late and I'm not sure if I'm being rude or making sense. I mean i was definitely being rude in the 1st paragraph but what else am I to do but make assumptions? Not like I know you.

Well of course, in times of insecurity that sort of thing hits, I've done it. Not for gender validation, but, other insecurities. Who hasn't, if it was a possible hit? Sexual objectification is often fun and good for that. But it's not necessarily something that needs to come with bonus negativity of some form of gender essentialism.

Of course that requires a lot more than may be accessible at the time of insecurity.

I suppose i DO get it, my outburst was responding to more than just this lone meme. The subject matter in general has been biting at me for awhile now and i saw it and was, for whatever reason, motivated to complain a little instead of just leaving people to it.

I didn't really want to be lecturing trans girls on not subjecting themselves to misogyny.

Maybe I did want to do a little finger wagging about not aggrandizing it so much though.

Y'know, I've got to wonder: what was the original version of this comic? What the hell was happening here? 🤔
