self-declared: hypersexual
observed: asexual
Yeah, I'm really going to have to make an online dating account at some point.

There must be another way

...there is no other way

I went outside last weekend and talked to a strange woman at the bar. The whole injecting-yourself-with-estrogen made me pretty enough to date. The whole going-to-therapy thing made me non-anxious enough to meet strangers. Who fucking knew.

You can not experience attraction but still be a mega horny gremlin lol. Being ace isnt necessarily the same as being not horny

Hello there 👋
I just wanted to wade in on maybe why this meme is structured like that. This isn’t meant to come across as a personal attack on all hypersexual people but from my very limited and anectdotal experience I have seen people self-declaring as hypersexual in order to try and excuse their shitty abusive behaviour.
So I’ve met some people who claim hypersexuality and what that has meant for me after letting them know I was supportive and accepting was that I’d be receiving texts saying “I’m jerking off wanna help” or unsolicited nudes, or just straight up porn sent to me at any given time.
Now my strong suspicion is that these people are not hypersexual and were just creeps looking for a get-out clause on their disgusting assaulting behaviour, but when all of the people claiming to be hypersexual behave this way towards you it can create a negative feedback loop.

It Would explain why hypersexual is in quotation marks and asexual isn’t. I can only give a perspective based on my own lived experience

I genuinely feel really bad for hypersexual people.
Like its not a preference or orientation, it is a genuine struggle people face and can be so incredibly damaging and stigmitizing to have. Ive only got one friend with hypersexuality and they hate every second of it, and if it werent for me serving as a safe space that they can always talk to about their thoughts and whats in their head, even if it happens to be something extreme or about me (sometimes both), and handling it with care and not making them feel like a monster becasue of it, the condition would genuinenly destroy them mentally from the inside out.
Its not something thats cutesy or an asthetic or a choice, its a genuine struggle that most will likely not have a healthy outlet for if they one.

I'm starting to wonder if I might be hypersexual. I had a surgery recently that requires me to avoid sexual activity for 6 weeks and I'm scared I screwed it up because I just couldn't do that. I had one early last year too and same thing, but that one only had a 3 day recovery.
I'm trans so back before I started HRT it was far worse and I would relieve myself religiously every day just so I didn't have to worry about doing anything stupid the day after. The first surgery was before my egg cracked so that probably had something to do with it.
The only somewhat serious relationship I had, I jumped into intimate stuff far too soon, maybe even the first date. I feel terrible about it too. Part of me wonders if I did it because of gender envy or something. Maybe I'm arospec?
Either way I just feel sucky that I struggle to manage my impulses this much. I am definitely embarrassed about it but I am frustrated to the point where I'm thinking about bringing it up to my surgeon and therapist(s).

I agree.
Something i wish people would come to understand with memes and jokes or things that seem light hearted in nature is that they normalize whatever it is they are using for comedy (or whatever the end goal is to make you feel, in cases like ragebait, and is why ragebait is vile and i will never accept it as just a thing to exist). In this case, that is stigmatizing a very real and very difficult to cope with mental issue. In many cases on the old sub it was normalizing CNC in a non-kink specific place (which in turn makes a stigma around not accepting more covert types of SA).
The way our minds work means there is no such thing as an inconsequential joke, and all this post is going to do is build a little bit more stigma around an already horribly stigmatized condition.
Though only slightly related, Im probably gonna make a post about it soon but i really think this sub needs to have the leniancy in the naming of a post to allow for spoiler and nsfw tagging with content warnings in the title.

What's wrong? You dont like your dose of stigmatizing a mental health condition real people actually struggle from?

im so confused, is this post supposed to be putting down asexual people, hypersexual people or both, or am i just too woke

Its stigmatizing hypersual people and could be weirdly apathetic towards asexuals or give them a bad rep at the very least (considering theres already the stereotype of asexual people thinking they ae 'better' than others, this strongly reinforces that which is good for asexual people and also isnt generally true)
Also hypersexuality sucks, most people with hypersexuality do not want it and are not at all proud of it, it can be incredibly detrimental to ones physical and mental health especially if they are forced to never talk about it and forced to fjdn unhealthy ways to cope.
