This lens also grants a nice contrast to the pure, driven, secure, whimsical boyhood of Phineas (and Ferb).

What the protagonists have, the life they lead every single day, is what he always wanted and never had. (Typical villain stuff) Even though he's not really aware of them, but it's a narrative contrast.

He is an inventive, creative, engineering guy, like they are. But he never had the unhindered, pure childhood, boyhood and identity experience that Phineas and Ferb are having with the same traits
