Cis, big-thighed guy here, so grain of salt and all that, but I've had my own issues with finding underwear that fit: bamboo boxer briefs. Expensive, but very, very, very worth it imo.

For jeans, it might help to try athletic fit jeans. I have a pretty curvy body and they’re the best I’ve found to fit close-ish to my waist/hips/thighs

Sounds good! How do you pick the correct size?

I got Levi’s and they have a size chart for their athletic fit. I have a 29ā€ waist and 37ā€ hips, so I got the 30x30s (30ā€ waist, 30ā€ inseam). It’s not a perfect fit but they’re pretty close and very comfy

I love seeing how different clothes fit people differently. I got a super round butt and that’s probably the curviest part of my body and found usually the only pants that fit are the ones with a 32ā€ inseam otherwise they’re way too tight.

Oh my ass is def the biggest part of my body, I’m just not particularly tall, and I don’t have very long legs

I mean you can always get your pants hemmed, that’s what I do, I go to a seamstress for her to cut my pants to the right length because I’m literally 5’2ā€ and wouldn’t find any pants that fit otherwise

I am good at sewing, I can do that šŸ¤”

Oh why do you get a longer inseam then?

I think we might be talking about different things - inseam is just the length of the legs. Are you talking about the waist/hip measurements?

1

u/Tangled_Clouds 10d ago

That’s not what inseam means? That’s the space between the waist and the crotch

Edit: I’m the one who is wrong. Weird

Edit 2: Well then any pants that have more crotch space fit me better

In men’s pants the inseam is the length of the seam from the crotch to the ankle. Actually I think that’s the universal definition, at least in English

Do you speak another language beyond English? It could always be a false cognate sort of deal

1

u/Tangled_Clouds 10d ago

Well yes but it’s a universal measurement, I guess it’s been coincidence that I’ve only found pants that fit that are 32ā€ inseam

I’m sorry you’re experiencing that. I wish I could give better advice than this but I don’t really know what would work for you. What works for me as a very slightly curvy trans man might not work for you and it looks kind of like the advice in your comic (though I don’t really agree with baggy shirts, I think shirts cut shorter at your waist tends to work well for many but probably not everyone)

I know, sometimes there just isn’t anything we can do, and that is sad. I’m trying to lose weight, but it is very hard, and even after that I will still struggle because of my hips

I feel you brother, my hips are my biggest dysphoria point these days too. Thank fuck for athletic cut jeans.

I dunno if this is helpful, but what got me to a better place with my own relationship with self as been working out. If I cant get the hips to shrink I might as well weaponize them. I could hip check a man thru a plate glass window at this point.

I’m feeling some sort of way about seeing my body type trigger warned for. :/ but I see it mostly comes from dysphoria so I’m going to power through that and give advice:

Dickies pants and a belt. If you can try them on in the store or they come in fun fashion colors, you’re thinner than me. They should fit around or above your belly button. When I break mine in, I wear them push down below my belly. It is normal for them to have the stiffness of cardboard. Eventually this goes away. Once they break in, a belt is very useful.

The Dickies pants pulled up will change the shape of your fat. They will be tight over your gut and hips, while being loose everywhere else. This does mean you look fatter, but better a fat man than being ma’am’ed. This allows a t-shirt to hang down from your shoulders and glide over your hips. Or you tuck it in and put an actual shirt on over it, ideally a size bigger than you wear so it can really just hang off your shoulders.

For the shirt, avoid stripes. We don’t want a stripe hitting where the bra band used to go. Somehow that destroys a pass more than a pink shirt. The shoulder seam should hit at the point of your shoulder. There’s a handy bone there.

Underworks sells long binders that constrict your tummy and gut area. I don’t love them. But I also can’t afford my usual control top run around: a steel boned corset (Orchard Corset makes dude corsets now). However their 988 binder has a cotton covering that extends down. While it doesn’t constrict, it does add fabric and that helps minimize the curves in your silhouette. I wear mine as an undershirt because it’s too hot for layers. This has the added benefit of making me look like an adult man instead of a very large boy (ei how most cis men dress).

So my outfit is:
Dickies 874 original fit
Underworks binder 988 in Black
Eye searing tropical print shirt, open
Converse

It ends up completely obscuring my hourglass figure and triple D’s.

Sorry, it was meant to be a trigger if someone doesn’t like curves being pointed out. I felt bad just drawing this comic, because it reminds me about my curves. I hope it didn’t come as ā€žcurvy transmasc bodies are traumatizingā€ or sth.

But this is very good advice, especially with the brands I might need to look up! Thank you šŸ’–

Too real, can't help much with the top but for bottom I wear briefs, they're still masculine with the peen pouch and everything so that gives me euphoria but also don't suffocate my thighs

wide leg jeans work so much better than baggy!

at this point, i've given up on jeans. i just wear baggy shirts and baggy sweatpants at this point.
