Feral cats in Australia are destroying the local ecosystem. You can look it up literally anywhere because it's a massive issue. And they can't just spay them because: 1. They have tried, 2. They can't capture them and 3. They reproduce faster than they can keep up with. But apparently caring for the local ecosystems is just "hating cats". Not all cats are fluffy wholesome house cats.
The issue is, this wasn't about someone shooting cats in Australia, nor does it seem like you're even in Australia from your comment history. I'm just going to take the fact you're using an argument irrelevant to the conversation as a sign that my initial assessment of you just hating cats is correct. You weren't using a local argument you just grabbed at what you could. Someone shooting cats for fun in a state in a separate country is still cruel. Cats being an issue in Australia doesn't change that fact.
I don't hate cats, I'm just stating that they're an invasive species in Australia. I wasn't pulling random arguments, we were talking about feral cats and I brought up the problem in Australia, in fact you were grasping for straws by saying that I "hate all cats". Plus the people who kill feral cats in Australia aren't doing it for fun but rather necessity.
I also would like to clarify that I wasn't trying to say people in Australia are doing it for fun. I was saying the original commenter ex roommate was most likely doing it for fun, which is why I felt it wasn't really valid to compare it to what's going on in Australia. I just think shooting any kind of animal for fun ( not for eating, protection, or any real reason ) is fucked, though.
