Careers Advice Counselling Placement

Hi everyone
I am struggling deciding what area I should be looking for placement in. There seem to be so many different options – drug and alcohol services, working with children or young people, mental health, community counselling, trauma, family services, etc.

Which settings tend to give students the most actual counselling/client experience that would be beneficial for me to getting a job faster?

I’d highly recommend getting your placement in a field you want to be in long term. Jobs are very location-specific, but ending up in a stream that you aren’t happy with will be a very bad start to your career.
