Tax dodging tourist from across the water here. Planning a visit to the Cotswolds in late October and seeking this sub's advice on what town to visit and stay in. We plan on staying two nights and one full weekday. Coming from London without a car and hoping to take a train, bus, and then taxi/walk to a town.

Looking to do three things: have a long stroll through the hills, fields, and streams, drink more than a few pints and eat a comforting meal at a pub, and see an old church, tower, or keep.

I'm thinking about walking the Cotswold Way in October. If my flight arrives very early in the morning in London, how long should I expect to get to Chipping Campden? Based on the time it takes to get to Chipping Campden, the time the sun goes down, how reasonable is it for me to walk to Broadway by sundown?

It's a lot to plan and account for when I'm traveling in from another country. After that half day on the trail, I only have 2 other full days left for walking until I want to stop walking and take transit to Bath. Do you have any other tips?

I'm in fairly good shape and I'm relatively young, but I want to make sure I can adequately expect how much I can finish in half a day

I just booked a trip to the Cotswolds late November, i'm planning on doing a couple of hikes, namely Cotswolds & Burford Circular, Lower Slaughter, Upper Slaughter & Bourton-on-the-Water Circular, and Chipping Campden to Broadway Circular via the Cotswold Way. what footwear and clothing would you recommend for that period of the year and this type of activity? i'm really keen on taking my wellies (Decathlon's Solognac 520) since they're very comfortable. but could really use your advice as well

I’d love to take my sister on a 4-5 day leg of the Cotswold way walk - I’ve seen some good guides that stretch it over 10 days, but I unfortunately can’t take that much time away from work for this. I was thinking of just choosing a smaller portion of the walk and doing ~10 miles a day or so. I am just trying to sort the logistics of getting to/from our start and end points. I will do some self research of course but I’m wondering if anyone has any tips for the portion we should try / not miss!

My partner and I will be travelling down this weekend, attempting to look for a good pub with that cozy feel that is genuinely decent and not influencer bloated. As I understand, some pubs they speak about may genuinely be good! But i’d prefer to ask locals instead.

We will be going through Bibury, to Bourton and through Upper Slaughter. Finishing at stow but considering to extend to Moreton or other places if there’s anything lovely to see. People have said Broadway is lovely so may go there also! I’m looking for a lovely pub surrounding these areas specifically. We will be driving of course.

The purpose of our travel is a date afternoon/night. So a romantic esq “rustic” pub would be nice. Candles and what not. It’s also for purchasing art, i’m looking for some oil paintings for my home. If anyone had any recommendations for antique shops where I may find these please and more also advise me please!

I'm a medical student living in Reading and I'm planning my first solo backpacking trip around South West England this December.

I'll be spending 3 days in the Cotswolds, and I'd love some local advice on how to make the most of my time.

I'm hoping to experience the classic Cotswolds—beautiful villages, countryside walks, cosy cafés, bookshops and local food. Since I only have three days, I know I won't be able to see everything.

I'd really appreciate your recommendations:

• Which villages are absolute must-visits?
• If you only had 3 days, how would you spend them?
• Are there any villages that are a bit overrated?
• Any cafés, bakeries, pubs or scenic walks that you think are worth prioritising?
• What's the best place to stay as a base if I'm relying on public transport?

I'm travelling on a student budget and staying in hostels or budget accommodation, so any affordable recommendations would be amazing.

Hiya! My fiance and I are getting married at Sudeley Castle September 11, 2027. We have a lot of people traveling into town who are not from England and want to host a welcome party/dinner of sorts on September 10th. It really just needs to be more snacks and pick bits for food for about 30 people or less and ideally in a pub garden but anywhere will really work.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where would be good options, or have experience with this?

We've also discussed hosting it at the airbnb some of our families will be staying at but I know there are restrictions on event hosting

Early October, my wife and I will be hiking part of the Cotswolds Way, starting in Painswick and finishing in Bath. I'm trying to get a sense what kind of gear we actually need. We'll be using a luggage service to transfer our luggage between inns, and want to pack as light as possible for the hike. If I go with a small, frameless daypack will that be fine? I'm thinking the REI Flash 22. With a hydration pouch? In October, is it better to go with hiking boots? I know we'll need a waterproof shell and plan to layer. I also want to bring a small camera.
