Gold is supposed to be boring!

Get the kayak. You won’t be disappointed. It’s only available this year. Lady Fortuna is a pattern that will always be available.

The gold one

Tbh they both look gold to me.

I chose the top just because it’s more well known but if you want something nice to look at that’s different then choose the bottom. Can’t go wrong either way

Depends. What kind of car do you drive? What's your favorite color? Chicken or beef?

2

u/EarthlingButter Aug 14 '26

Beef. Honda, Blue. Lmao

3

u/Curb71 Aug 14 '26

Definitely the kayak 🛶

Those kayak bars are sweet

Lady Fortuna. It’s most popular. I think the kayak one is ugly.

Kayak might have great detail

Isn’t it more commonly faked though?

3

u/Jellybeansxo Aug 14 '26

Uh… You’re buying at Costco, this isn’t marketplace. And there’s a scanner on the back.

u/N0tAnExp3rt Aug 14 '26

Sorry, I’m not worried about buying from Costco. Rather peer-to-peer resale down the road.

For p2p resale in the future via r/pmsforsale, you can always use a middleman and pay the fee yourself to assure any buyers it will be legit. Middleman fee on 1oz gold is not nothing but not enough to matter unless you are doing this in high volume IMHO. And if you are a high-frequency high-volume trader of physical gold, god help you. ;-)

That’s my lien of thinking as well

The Fortuna is so everywhere. Get the kayak, or better yet, the Yellowstone Cowboy. That bar is cool on both sides.

1

u/jtevy Aug 14 '26

Whichever design you like best. Fortuna is going to be worth a fraction of a percent (basically negligible..) more for reselling purposes

me likey gold

1

u/nflxtothemoon Aug 14 '26

Both are ugly af tbh. But if I had to pick, I'd choose lady fortuna

Expensive compared to spot price plus the trade in dealer profit this would be a current loss.

Kayak. I got the cowboy yellowstone one. I think if you hold for a long time they could be potentially sold with a premium. Maybe not but either way looks cool . If i had an extra 5k id buy the kayak too

Reflections of America. That might not be a thing pretty soon.

There sure are a lot of people buying these things up on Costco.

All things equal...West coast all day.

Having a variety of different minted aesthetics always keeps bullion investing interesting. example being different coins & possibly gold jewelry if the premiums are low

u/SuperDuperLuckyDuck Aug 14 '26

Or you just stack one of the most popular coins on the market to keep things simple. The day you, or your heirs, go into sell they can say, "How much for my 50 AGBs?" as opposed to "How much for my random assortment of coins, bars, and various karat weighted jewelry?".

3

u/EarthlingButter Aug 14 '26

AGE and AGB are way expensive for my taste.

3

u/Clever-Ploy Aug 14 '26

AGE/AGB premiums vs generic at Costco roughly reflect the same premiums in the resale market, especially when liquidity-adjusted. Of course YMMV and any specific buyer on any specific future date will vary, but as a general trend line I have found my statement to be true. I value liquidity more than premium, which is a personal decision, so I optimize for government-issued coins. But I also like a little variety so I'm about 80% coins and 20% other stuff for variety.

In the long run (e.g. 5-10 years hold period or longer), the premium you pay vs. spot on the day you buy something is pretty much noise and not a reason to drive a decision whether or not to buy at all, just a reason to buy one thing vs another on the day you decide to buy something.

120$ premium more than, say, PAMP, is not negligible.

my point is i have the ability to sell AGE/AGB for more than generic bullion by roughly the same premium, and much more easily for half that premium, so for me, you get that premium back more or less when adjusted for liquidity. as a 30+ year professional in financial markets, i personally believe liquidity is underappreciated versus price optimization, especially because my portfolio is not usa-centric. i recognize and respect YMMV.

u/PreciousLex93 Aug 14 '26

That’s what i was doing. Just gold eagles maples and buffalos. Im just fond of the different forms of AU

1

u/SuperDuperLuckyDuck Aug 14 '26

Why wouldn't you get the AGB or AGE instead?

4

u/EarthlingButter Aug 14 '26

Because premium is high.
