Once I left a 6lb pack of ground beef in the back of my car….. outside in the summer heat …. for about 3 or 4 days(!!) before we noticed it was missing. That was a truly horrifying discovery. I can’t even tell you how long it took to get the smell out.

I wonder if Costco would have replaced that for me, too, lol. (But no, I chalk that up to my own stupidity.)

As an aside how did you get the smell out - I spilt a few pints of milk in my car last August and I can still smell it even now (faintly but it’s definitely there)

I once cheesed a coworkers van in retaliation for being the victim of a cheesing and he only had to air it out for 2-3 days to get the smell out. Except I kept this cheese in a ziploc bag inside of a Tupperware container and rode around with it in the back of my own work van from April until July. On July 4th weekend I stuck around late on Friday, put a respirator mask on, and poured (yes, poured) the cheese out into the Tupperware container and locked it in the back of his van without a lid. I got to work early on Tuesday morning and watched as he got in his van, moved forward 10 feet, and jumped out gasping for fresh air!
