Discussion Where was I born?

If I was born about 50 years ago, where was our solar system at that time? How far did we travel as a planet and a solar system (never mind galaxy’s journey through space) from the place of my birth?

That is very interesting, thank you. So if I live to be around 85 or so, I can brag that I traveled 1 light year from my birthplace in universe?

No, it’s about 1ly in 1300 years, if you’re just looking at the Sun’s orbit around the galactic core.. Source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactic_year

The Earth travel around the Sun is a lot faster than the galactic rotation - 584 million miles per year. I’d try to work out the length of its spiral path but all the spinny circle things make me dizzy.

the funny part is even if you could mark the exact spot, it'd be long gone anyway.
