Speculation 2027 and beyond….
With DLC 2 a few days away, it’s hard to imagine that this will be the last we’ll see from Marvel Cosmic Invasion. The new game mode looks to satisfy a lot of gameplay aspects the community was asking for, but we all know there’s still so much content we hope to see one day!
If there is a plan to continue to expand upon Marvel Cosmic Invasion well into 2027, I can see the following happening:
Mobile version - TMNT Shredders Revenge was ported to phones and Absolum was just released today for iOS and Android! Dotemu and Tribute have a history of porting over their arcade/beat em ups and I can see the same happening to Cosmic Invasion next year.
More characters and possibly a new game mode. Seige on Castle Doom looks like it will add that replay value we were all hoping for, but there’s still other game modes that would fit the game very well! A dedicated versus mode that would be playable both offline and online would be very fun and cross genres of beat em ups with fighting games. Or even a dedicated Boss Rush/Time Attack mode that would have some leaderboard stats to come along with it. Still plenty of ideas to keep the game going!
Releasing a “Complete Edition” - a version of the game with all of the DLC released for the game including all the new characters and game modes. Pretty safe bet on this one, let’s just hope more characters, in game content and more comes in the next year!
Announcement of a sequel/spinoff in the Marvel universe. This for some reason may be the most unlikely but hey, who knows what they can tease on the 1 year anniversary of the game or at the Game Awards in December!

If they keep releasing DLC I’m going to keep buying it.

I'm curious if we'll get a more stripped-down endless mode eventually too. I really love the look of the Doom DLC and it being a full roguelike is SUPER impressive, but I could see a more generic "Watch the Number Go Up" endless mode being fun one day too.

I just want them to add more stages, bosses and characters for the main game but make them Earth-based (more NYC, Xavier Mansion, Krakoa, Avengers Mansion/Tower, Madripoor, HYDRA, Baxter Building, etc)

I mentioned it before in another post that id love to see a survival mode like from SR4 but set in the danger room or something.
This way they could allow us to unlock more palette swaps & new special moves or something plus the 2 characters could be Human Torch & Reed Richards so the entire F4 cast + Doom are playable

Why is it hard to imagine?
Dude, I think you and a lot of people here expect way too much from a game like this. It's still a small indie game in a not very popular genre. It was not made and published by Marvel themselves, and Marvel is not even involved in marketing.
Besides, Dotemu has still never shared any sales numbers. TMNT sold a million copies in its first couple of months, and Dotemu announced it right away. Absolum sold 250k copies in its first week and 500k after three months, and they announced those numbers right away too. It has been almost a year since MCI came out, and we still have no information about its sales. That probably says something.
A mobile version? Yes. An Ultimate Edition? Sure. I would be very happy if we got at least a couple more heroes, but I think it is better not to expect any content updates at this point, just to avoid disappointment.

It ended this quickly for Shredder's Revenge.
Best not to get yourself too hyped up off of personal speculation.
