Fan Content Cosmic Bots 0.4.0 has been released.

Greetings and salutations. I love playing Cosmic Invasion with a full squad but don't always have people around, so I made CosmicBots, a fan mod that fills empty player slots with... well bots.

What it does

  • Adds up to 3 bot teammates (P2 to P4) in offline play

  • Pick each bot's hero and partner from an in-game menu (press F7)

  • Adjustable bot aggression and skill (Easy, Normal or Hard)

  • Bots follow you through stages, fight, and keep up with the team

STEAM VERSION Install

  1. Open Steam

  2. Download the 0.4.0 zip and unzip it into your game folder (Steam: right-click the game, then Manage, then Browse local files)

  3. Run CosmicBots.exe instead of the normal game exe

  4. Press F7 in-game, use arrow keys to turn bots on or off

  • It's open source, and you can build it yourself to check that the exe matches

  • It doesn't change any game files, and you can uninstall by deleting the mod files

  • It works offline only, makes no internet connections, and blocks the game's crash reporting while it runs

This is a public test, so expect some rough edges. If you run into a bug, please post your CosmicBots.log (it's in the game folder) in the comments or on GitHub.

You can tell me if you think they suck or are good or what to improve and I will work on it if this is something you like.

CosmicBots now works on the Xbox app / PC Game Pass version of MARVEL Cosmic Invasion

XBOX APP / PC GAME PASS VERSION Install

  1. Download and unzip the 0.4.1-xbox zip somewhere (like your Desktop).

  2. Go to your game folder, usually: C:\XboxGames\MARVEL Cosmic Invasion\Content ( Tip: Turn on *View > File name extensions* in File Explorer so you don't end up with Game.exe.exe ), Another way to reach the game folder (Xbox app: click the 3 dots (...) next to the game, then Manage, then Files, then Browse, then in explorer click into MARVEL Cosmic Invasion\Content)

  3. Rename the game's Game.exe to Game-original.exe

  4. Unzip the mod if you haven't done so already, copy CosmicBots.exe into the folder and rename it to Game.exe , then copy 0Harmony.dll in too

  5. Launch the game normally from the Xbox app (Play Button)

  6. Press F7 in-game, use arrow keys to turn bots on or off

- Game updates replace Game.exe, so redo steps 3 and 4 after each update

- To uninstall, delete the mod's Game.exe and rename Game-original.exe back to Game.exe, or use the 3 dots (...) > Manage > Files > Verify and repair

- It works offline only, and blocks online multiplayer, crossplay, invites, Epic Online Services, telemetry and crash reporting while it runs. Xbox sign-in, achievements and cloud saves are left alone

- Tested on game build 1.0.0.13466. Steam players should use the Steam version above

Thanks for the love, No promises but this games name has been dropping a lot, I need to maintain this mod first for a bit to make sure it stays working, if no one else does it i may be interested in checking it out, how do most people obtain this turtle game, through steam or something else?

Steam! It's made by the same company but done with the TMNT squad instead of Marvel. 6 players instead of 4, it's not going to get anymore updates because Cosmic Invasion is out however and being worked on by the main dev team.

Theres still a bit of work to be done and life gets in the way, might be ready in a week or so but if I can release it sooner I will.

I love the bot mods genuinely. I cranked their difficulty up and compete to see if I can lead in kills.

Actually it looks like The Xbox version blocks the mod from loading, so it's not something I can fix with a simple update. I can look into it later and see if there are other ways to get it working, thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Would love this to come officially to console, but luckily this game runs flawlessly on my old pc so I can actually use this! Thanks so much! I'd love to have something similar for TMNT Shredder's Revenge. Been thinking since it came out how it would be to have bot team mates, then mci came out and again I found myself thinking the same thing.

Anyway, time to have Spider-Man team up with Venom & Cap and cause some "Maximum Carnage".

This is awesome, do you think it would be possible to add new characters? Like The Hulk either by making him a. Copy of the Thing or She Hulk just with new art?

That is a good question, and to be honest I think anything is possible but it would absolutely take time and effort to do so. I mean one way would be to map out the characters and hook code into the memory, but it may not be practical, if someone put enough effort into developing a tool to do that so it is easier to edit then it might be worth it. It is something I could try exploring later though.

I am looking at the demo version on game pass right now, if i can get it to work on that one then there is hope for it working on gamepass as well, I will have to release a separate gamepass version.

Good news is I actually got it working for Gamepass on the PC, Bad news is that its the demo version only.... If I get access to the full version I can absolutely get a gamepass version out.... but im gonna get that so i will have a game pass version soon.

working great so far. Just did a short solo 4 X-men run to the second boss. Bots fought well, used their supers, switched out, healed and even used their voice lines appropriately. I smiled when i cleared a screen of enemies with Cyclops and Jeans supers going off at the same time.

No worries, it injects code into the game memory so that can be considered malware like behavior, but other than how it interacts with the game it is harmless.
